A lot of American Jews are less sympathetic to Israel these days than in yesteryear because they identify more with with their Socialist or Communist ideologies than with their ethnic identities -- especially in Hollyweird.

American Jews (JINOS) are the cornerstone of the far left in the US. They are much more beholden to their ideology than heritage. I saw an article not long ago saying that the overwhelming majority are secular types who no longer attend synagogue or practice the Jewish faith.
