View Full Version : Where can I get a deal on a few dozen blankets for a dog shelter?
MaxFund shelter put up a post looking for blankets. Can anyone recommend a place to get a large number of blankets? I'd like to pick up a bunch and donate them to the dog shelter.
I would also appreciate a lead on a few dozen towels for the cat shelter.

Arc or goodwill, would be the first places I would look.
Edited my original post to ask for leads on a source for a few dozen towels for the cat shelter as well.

Thrift stores. Go in with letterhead from shelter, they practically give it to you for free. Bring in a kitten , puppy and or pictures. This way they load your vehicle up for you.

thanks for posting this--got both my dogs from MaxFund--they're a great organization that certainly doesn't get the press or donations that dumb friends gets.
Goodwill has an outlet store down off i70 and monaco. They do everything by weight.

Go to the area feedlots with big cowboy crews and ask them for their old horse blankets. Dogs love em

Also Army Surplus stores normally have used GI wool Blankets for cheap, that's what we always used to get for our pups. They stay warm even when wet.

I was going to chime in with the same thing. I use them to lay on on the garage floor. Dog always steals them. Not the fluffiest thing on the planet, but they dont really retain much moisture.
If you are ever up this way we have a big box of towels we were going to donate, but the local shelter only wants cash donations.
Blanket drive on coar?????
