Hey all,

I am in the market for a cheap LED flashlight for my wife. It will go in her safe accompanied by her revolver.

I don't feel the need to spend $80 on a surefire or streamlight for it to just sit in a safe its whole life. I was thinking something around the $20 range.

For those of you who have a decent flashlight that puts out at least 75 lumens or more what do you recommend?

Thanks

How about the Redline Nebo? I have one in each truck as a backup to my Surefires.

For personal safety I have a surefire next to the gun by the bed. For less severe needs I have two ultrafires in the truck.

Go to Costco. They have a 2 pack of C powered cree flashlights. They are stupid bright, perfect reliability and I think I got mine for $20-25 for the 2 pack.

I got a 2 for $25 deal at...Costco *shivers* with some Duracell flashlights. They've got adjustable focus, low, high, and strobe modes, and are extremely bright. I've been using them for two hours or so each night during my last three camping trips and the batteries have yet to go on me. I don't expect them to be decade-long flashlights, but damn if it's not the best $25 I ever spent.

Anyone else hate Strobe-mode with a passion? I feel like I'm a couple flashes away from my first epileptic seizure. And in an HD situation, it would probably confuse and distract me more than an intruder.

They're great little lights. I've had great flashlights, Microstreams, 4Sevens, etc. that have corroded and died within months. I'm done spending good money on flashlights.

For $.350 I'll it. Its going to sit in a safe.... It wont take tons of abuse so I see it as a win win.

The CREE LEDs, the ones at Costco, the Duracell ones, the ones on Amazon, etc. all use the same Diode. and they are very bright. They can be driven with batteries from 1 to 13 volts and vary from about 100 to 1500 lumens. I've been beating the crap out of them on shotguns, in trucks, on ARs, in range bags, etc. for about a year and a half now. Very durable.

Some of the "brands" have cheaper batteries, and some are not rechargeable, but the CREE diode and circuitry all come form the same factory, so in general, they are all pretty much the same.

Don't copy me bro!

I agree, they are long lasting and long life flashlights. I use mine a ton and have yet to swap batteries yet.

Ive had several of these. Careful to not get them wet though. Plastic battery housing is cheap, had 2 break on me while in the tube. And water has ruined two of them and rusted the connectors. Didn't drop them in water, this was just working with wet hands.
luckily Costco replaces them no questions asked.

I like the Helotex G2. I just use AA's because I have a ton but they can use the fancy tactical batteries too. I bought a couple when they were $20 on gearhog. I leave one beside the door to take the dog out at night and one beside the bed. They last pretty long on a AA.

I've had bad luck with Surefire. One of the better pocket sized flashlights I've used is the Inova T1. Simple push button operation, no silly strobe mode, and only around 50 bucks.

I've carried a Streamlight ProTac 2AAA daily for years now and beat the ever living shit out of it.

http://tacticalgear.com/streamlight-protac-2aaa-professional-tactical-light-black

I paid WAY more than $25 for mine.

Three modes but not too fancy. Momentary press High, strobe, low. Click at any to lock. Always goes to high on first click from off mode. My only complaint is having to go through strobe to get to low.

I think the 2AA model has programmable modes.
