I get pisseds everytime I go to Soopers. Sick of seeing "everyday low price" tag on stuff that was half as much not that long ago.

Meat ticks me off the most. Insane.

Yeah I've stopped being super picky (health wise) on dinners, it's just not feasible anymore. I'll just eat healthy throughout the day and work hard at the gym. Speaking of gym, I won't even get started on protein powders.

I feel like I'm back in NY the way the prices are going. But for some reason I get a feeling Bloomberg is making money off it... [Mad]

Amazed at the change in "size " in the past 4 years .

Yeah its real annoying with pasta. For most of my life you bought pasta in 1lb boxes, now they're all 13.5oz ... which throws off recipes left and right.

Good God tell me about it. Between mine and the wife's, we probably have around $400-500 in supplements in the house at any given time. Between proteins, preworkout, BCAAs, etc.
Our solution for grocery costs is to buy all of our meats from the butcher (small local business) and all our produce from the dangers market next to them. Much cheaper and our money is going to local businesses.

I've sure noticed! Cans have shrunk as well- some down 2 ounces, some down 3 ounces.
As far as produce goes, Sprouts often runs sales that are half of the grocery stores' prices. This week, Northwest Cherries are 1.98/lb, as opposed to 3.99/lb at Safeway and 3.00/lb at Kings.

I've noticed the price per pound of boneless pork creeping up steadily. I buy the full sized loins at Sam's and cut up chops and get two small roasts for @$25.00; I freeze it or can it. I just don't see the prices going down. :(

Daily conversation for us.

Will be moving up our 3 yr timeline for raising more than produce to 1 yr. Birds and bovine start next spring. Hope to use some vacation/holiday time this winter to bag some pork.

You have 2 paychecks. I'm 1 /fixed income. Fortunately we started hand feeding the local fauna, prior to why 2k. Amazing what squirrels pass on to their offspring. Here kitty, pfft. ;)

I love how all the company's have new packaging, that say same great product new look. The only thing they leave out is now with 1/3 less for seventy five cents more. I keep seeing all these report's there's no inflation going on, bullshit. Everything is going up except wages.

It's called democratic math, it only adds up for them, and subtracts from US.

I haven't really noticed. Every time I fill the cart up, no matter what I get, it always comes to between $200 and $250. Has for years. I'm starting to think maybe these "extreme couponers" might be on to something.

Costco was $230 today, I could walk in there thinking I'm just going to get lunch for $1.50 and still somehow spend $100. Never fails

fuel prices are the gremlin - costs more for the truck, costs more for the cargo

Thanks, Obama!

Pork prices are up because if a virus killing an insane amount of piglets... Feeder pigs are up to 75 instead if the standard 50. I have not bought meat in a couple years ( buy a quarter of a steer and half a pig a year) but I always look at the meat prices to gauge what I am going to pay in the fall

Stagflation - http://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/stagflation.asp

Wages remain the same, unemployment rises, costs of goods and services go up.

What are some solutions to turn this country around?

1. Close the southern border.
2. Get rid of the liberals in government. Liberals aren't necessarily (D) but that is the majority of them.
3. Make the government much smaller which is only possible by doing 2.
4. Reduce the entitlements, make them a net not a life choice. SS generally isn't an entitlement, my parents worked and earned the SS they get but we need to dump this program and let workers be responsible for their own retirement.
5. Expand domestic oil and gas production - this country was built on oil and gas and we can rebuild it using these fuels.
6. Stop the government subsidies of ethanol, solar, and wind. Solar and wind cannot compete with oil and gas, so they'll go away in the natural cycle of creative destruction, just like they did during the oil boom of the last century. This goes hand-in-hand with 2 and 3. Ethanol uses corn and water ( food products) which drive up the cost of any food products that use corn and water, namely everything. Not to mention the harm done to vehicle innards by ethanol which will save us money on repairs.

In order to bring this country back we're going to have to accept that some really lazy people and their families are going to starve to death. I'm OK with that, it is called natural selection. If you want to help these worthless people go ahead but don't use the force of government to steal my money in order to fund your altruism.

Gotta keep the sheeple happy.

Could you imagine what would happen to the liberals in both parties if they told the truth, they'd be run out of office on rail. The God Damned Commies wouldn't get elected for a century and we'd have prosperity.

I could get you whey protein by the 50lb bag lol we feed it to hogs, as for meat I love being a livestock nutritional consultant so I have many customers I can get beef from last time I bought a side of beef it was 2$ a lb processed it would probably be a lot more expensive like 3-3.50 now but still cheaper than the store

I use the Fort Carson Commissary and I see the increase each visit. I know this is nowhere near Wally and King Soopers etc, but everywhere you get less for a lot more $.
I do the shopping and meat is the biggest killer!

I hope every trip to the store and gas station pisses of Liberals until they get their head right........but I doubt it. Utopia won't be cheap!

It costs more to feed livestock, transport goods, defend against trial lawyers, and (of course) pay for Obamacare. I'm surprised anyone is surprised that food costs (like most other costs) are rising. It's all good, Obama's Department of Commerce has said we don't have inflation so we must all be imagining it.

In late 2011 flank steak at Sams Club was $5.99. Yesterday it was $8.58. In the same time gas has gone up $1.50 per gallon. There is no end in sight. I certainly feel your pain. Feeding a family is getting more and more difficult.

I am really lucky because I get a cow from my sister every couple of years so my freezer is always stocked. If I had to pay double for my food bill, I don't know what I would do. The cost of living is insane!

Its funny to note that right after reading this post I watched O'Reilley's talking points and he mentions that gasoline has doubled in the last 6 years and food prices are at their highest level in history.

BTW, Monsanto. Sad but so true.

It is crushing us. Good thing is, I'm losing weight.

This is what happens from all the facts that the census picks up, they distribute the info and the "corporations" know where you live and how much you make, they set up their stores and price according to the income in a captive area. They got us by the balls.

I never fill out a census completely, just that I am me and I live here, they get nothing else.

While I agree the government does not need to know everything they ask on the census, the corporations get far more from the information you give Google and Amazon and those affinity cards then they would ever get from the census. The census aggregates data while Google tries to narrow it down to specific people and addresses. Just try to get the depth of information on an individual you can get from Zillow, Spokeo, etc. out of the Census Bureau ... LOL.
