I'm wrapping up a couple prototypes (O1 steel), and wondered if anyone knew of any local outfits that offer heat treating specific to blades... Was going to ship to Peter's Heat Treat in PA but would like to go local if I can.

Don't know about "specific to blades", but worth asking.
They've done a bunch of my hammer dies.

These guys are in Colorado Springs and do great work.
Have you thought about buying a small laboratory oven to process your own prototypes? Using well sealed SS tool wrap will yield a very clean part with little to no oxidation. I've made my own shearing dies and molds this way with great success.
Now if you're looking for certification and all that I completely understand the need to go the professional route.
Check out elmtreeforge.blogspot.com. The man just made a couple of knifes and runs through the process of hardening and tempering. "Seems" easy enough.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have considered doing it myself. Just been so busy that it hasn't been an option...will be in the future though, at least for some steels. Will check out the blog Erni. Thanks!
