Been saving some change for my .17 hmr. So purdy. All I gotta do is get some scope rings and it's time to rock and roll!

Congrats! If this is your first 17 HMR, here's a nice little cheat sheet based upon a standard 17 grain bullet at 2550 FPS with a 145 yard zero, (1.5" high at 100 yards).

Basically aim center mass with a dead hold from 25-150 yards, then aim for a headshot with a dead hold after that up to 200 yards. This zero also works great for Nikon BDC scopes which will give you quick hold over values determined using the Spot-On app. Personally, I've hit pdogs past 300 yards, but have only actually killed them out to 286 yards consistently using a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 CDS with a custom elevation dail set from 50-400 yards.

Awesome thanks for the info. I'm actually putting a Nikon bdc 150 on it.

You're welcome. What model scope? The P-Rimfire 2-7x32 BDC 150, or a different one? Let me know and I'll post the appropriate chart for it.

My son and I got into shooting .17 HMR this summer, really cool and effective round out to about 200yds. Yes you can stretch them out further but we've found without good shot placement a follow up shot is needed.
I've been getting Hornady ammo from MidSouth Shooters Supply https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000383170/17_HMR_17_Grain_V-Max_50_Rounds for $11.00 a box, freight is about $16.00 for 1000rds which ends up being about $.23 around.

Thanks for the heads up. I might have to get some at that price

No worries.....
I was in Murdochs today and they have a decent sale going on this weekend, I think it was about $12.00 a box for the same stuff. Don't know if there's limit though, I have about 5000rds now and really not looking....

I need to buy some extra mags. So there is more trigger time than loading time lol

Definitely get more mags. My sons and I all shoot the same model of rifle, we have 23 mags.
