View Full Version : Conifer? Thinking of a move.

Feeling the need to get out of town lately, any thoughts on Conifer? I need to commute to Littleton everyday and a straight shot down 285 doesn't seem to bad.
Schools look pretty good as well up that way. Any pro/cons?
I like living up here, but it is a lot of work; my neighbors are generally pretty good. I spend a lot of time managing the forest in the summer and with snow removal in the winter. Yes, the schools are really good, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. There are those that move up here and love it; and there are those that move up here and put up a sign to sell after their first winter. The drive to Littleton is pretty easy, but your choice of vehicle is impacted. Traffic will back up on the Richmond Hill exit where 285 drops to two lanes during some of the bad snow storms and on Friday evenings during the summer. If you have questions, PM me.
Yeah just go as far as Conifer, we got enough city folks in Bailey.
However don't bitch about your neighbors, cutting wood, riding dirtbikes, playing music, leaving trash out, blah blah blah, it's their property and each enjoys the foothills differently.
My girlfriend lives in Evergreen and her parents are in Conifer. We are in our low 40s and her kids are 5 and 9. Nice area, schools are good.. Neighbors can be weird/iffy, my gf is friendly/social, her neighbors aren't at all. If you have kids and they have a lot of neighborhood friends don't expect that up in the hills. Evergreen social circle can be a bit snooty/clicky. If you want a nice piece of land it will cost you. Great place if you want some space and are perfectly happy with some distance to neighbors.

Ignore what Mtn.man said. Conifer sucks...gangs, drugs, ghettos, drive-bys... Bailey is where it's at. Move up here. Encourage all your friends to move up here. My house will be on the market soon.

I vote you look at Evergreen as well. I travel through Evergreen and Conifer frequently on the motorcycles and they both look like nice places. Bailey is cute. Kind of small for my taste, but whatever.

This actually doesn't sound to bad. Not that I want to live next to a garbage dump but I'm ready for more space. My townhome backs up to the open space and its great looking out the back but I hate the otherside and what neighborhood has become.
I I think we are going to drive up that way tomorrow and look around
Well then PCOUNTY might be your place,,, we got no sound restrictions, even when they think we do no enforcement, when we don't like a neighbor we harass them till they move, and then you pretty much move on to a larger pc O' property so you can control the area.
Hey BG's place is almost perfect for ya. Mine has a big shop but i don't like the neighbors that have moved in even though they are a 100 yards away.
Just bought some property surround on 4 sides by Nat Forest with an easement so NO neighbors in the near future.
My gf lives a block down from the evergreen rodeo grounds. There's a house for sale on the corner right across the street from the rodeo grounds with a good lot and shop space for a pretty reasonable price. Actually there are a number of homes in that neighborhood off of stagecoach for sale.

Not Bailey. Everyone likes guns in Bailey...almost. Even the people that don't like them have at least one.
Super place but prepare for the commute.
Been looking at properties in Evergreen and Conifer myself. My wife works in Golden and I work in Lakewood, so each of us trekking from Aurora each day kind of sucks. I figure if we're going to have a 45 minute commute to work we should live somewhere a bit nicer.

This is what you wrote, but this is what I read.
I'll be posting epic rant threads every time there is a government shut down and I'm not allowed access to my home.

Might want to check out Indian Hills. Small, quiet and easy commute. Also the area off of N. Turkey Creek, if you don't mind elk bedding down bugleing all night under your bedroom window.

Indian hills looks nice except I could basically afford just the lot up there. Looks like your money goes further in terms of house and space by pushing out to Baily but it adds another 25 plus minutes to the drive.

I think a good compromise between Bailey and Conifer is the Pine Junction area. A little longer commute than conifer, but not as far out as Bailey. Banana belt weather, so winter (snowfall) isn't really bad at all. You can get property in either Jeffco or Park County and still have the same conveniences. I would suggest the Park County side, less property tax burden and no vehicle emissions.
People get kind of aggressive on 285 during the commute hours, but that is probably true in most areas.

I don't know where prices are right now, but I was pretty lucky. I got 5 acres of A2 zoned horse property for under 300K in 2007. The house needed work, and I am still working on it, but I am pretty happy with it. There are some places in Pine Junction with the same commute as me; it all depends on how far off 285 you go. I am exactly five miles from the fire station at 285 and Richmond Hill. Speaking of which, there are price points for insurance on how far you live from the fire station. Anyhow, I take my son down to Green Mountain High School where his mother lives and it takes about 30 minutes. I rarely have a backup unless some idiot wipes out in Turkey Creek Canyon, which doesn't happen that much on the morning commute. Now that I am no longer with my X and her kids, I really wish that I was on the Park County side. The ONLY reason to live on the Jefferson County side is for the schools.
