So the wife and I get a night to ourselves on Friday without the youngins and she brought up having a picnic somewhere with a great view. I thought Lookout Mountain right off the bat...but I really don't want to deal with all of the high schoolers awkwardly groping each other as I imagine there would be on a Friday night up there.

Anybody have any great scenic overlook spots close to Denver (relatively close anyways) where it might not be as well travelled or well known as a Lookout Mountain would be?

Try Mount Falcon. There is a short hike to get to the overlook, usually not much of a crowd.

I'll second Mt. Falcon. Dad used to bring me there every weekend and bike the trails when I was a kid

For extra fun, take a mountain bike up from the eastern trailhead! There are two covered overlooks, one at the top of the big climb to the east (you can access it much easier by driving up to the west trailhead) and one that looks southwest off the loop.

Second that, make sure you make the hike to the ruins of the original owners home. He was a Stanley Steamer car dealer back then!
