Friday August 22, 2014, Colorado currency COJacks will hit the Colorado economy. It seems to me like the creators of this currency don't really understand currency as well as they think they do. There is an example in the article, used to demonstrate how this currency is supposed to work, but the example doesn't make sense. They even mention how the example can be disrupted, without seeming to realize that their idea is doomed to fail for that exact same reason.

I think this is a great example of people not learning from history. There is a reason workers went on strike against barons when they were only paid in company coupons. He'll, even It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia had an episode where the bar tries this exact thing and instantly fails.

Read the article and comment, as maybe I'm missing something. Also, I'm posting from my phone, so please forgive me for any strange auto correct grammar errors.

Not the same thing as bitcoins, at least I don't think. I'll think on it some more though, because you may be right. You bring up an interesting point though, because like a tangible gold standard currency, bitcoins could be mined and produced in other ways besides in exchange for other established currencies. While the article wasn't what i would call "in depth," nothing was really mentioned about how to obtain COJacks other than through purchasing them with dollars. Since COJacks are merely coupons, just like coupons, they could not sustain a system by themselves. Coupons are also designed to attract business and simulate targeted purchasing, but if you JUST had coupons, an infinite amount, you couldn't function in the economy with everyone else.

I only made it through 3 sentences in the article because: Westword.

But it sounds more like a gift certificate you can use at multiple establishments. Obviously if I went to a place and they tried to give me that back in change instead of cash I would say F off.

Similar to a mall gift certificate that you can use at any store in the mall?

Cheetohs and Doritos are the new Colorado currency. As those are the favored foods of the neckbeards, I foresee a great culture clash between stoners and trilby-tipping rimfire flippers.
