So I've been getting antsy and I have decided that I want a new pistol. I have decided that I want one of the new Sig polymer pistols that I can potentially conceal carry. I have been looking mostly at the p250 and the p320 series with me leaning heavily towards the p320. I love the idea of these polymer pistols, and it would also give me a chance to own a Sig product for a little bit less than normal price for Sig products. I have been doing research on these pistols and most reviews seem to give them glowing remarks. But here is where I am curious. I am wondering what the guys on this forum think of the pistol? Obviously I will have to handle one before I buy, but I'd like to know what you guys think.

Carried one as a back-up when working as an LEO. (Sig 230 not 232) The 230 series has the European style mag release on the bottom. This is not conducive to quick mag changes. But after training it is not really a hindrance. In fact if you shoot a Ruger Mark I or II target pistol in .22lr you are already used to this style of mag release. Accuracy. Mine was excellent. My carry piece was a Springfield Champion in .45ACP with about a $1000 worth of reliability and accuracy tuning done by the "A-zone" and my Sig 230 would shoot shot for shot in scoring during qualifications.
I am not a real fan of the 9mm short aka 380. That being said, if being used for defense make sure and get a premium defensive ammo. I carried Cor-Bon +p and Starfire +p ammo. I'm not sure if one or both are even still available.
Lastly, I would still own the piece, but I traded for another gun that I wanted. Except for caliber it is an excellent gun. (not a 380 fan)

Have you found a P320 for sale? I know they are slowly making it out there, but the P250 is much easier to find. I carry a P229 and a P250. They may both be SIG handguns, but they are nothing alike. The P22X series, or the classic SIG, as some call them are the metal guns that come DA/SA, DAK or DAO. The P250 and now the P320 are a whole different system in that the primary focus is the modular Fire Control Unit (FCU). Once you have an FCU, you can collect the different size plastic frames, slides, and barrels to have a completely different handgun.
If you are looking for more information on the P250/P320, try this board: http://www.p250sig.com/forum/
I really like my P250 in sub and full. I liked it so much I got another FCU so I can keep one of each or have spare parts in the event I lose or break something. The design is amazingly simple. If you like shooting DAO revolvers, the P250 may just be the best trigger (albeit long pull) that I have ever used. If anyone would like to shoot one, give me a call and I'd be happy to let you put a magazine or two through mine.
NOTE: I had P230 .380 about 20 years ago as a BUG. The P230/P232 are not related to the P250/P320. It took a bit to get it to feed hollow points reliably, but it was a very good belly gun. Colorado Osprey is correct in that it has the European style mag release at the bottom of the grip. It was not the fastest mag changes I've ever done [Flower]
I've been looking at the P320 too. The early reviews are excellent and I like the modularity. I'm still going to wait and see for a couple more months, just to make sure.
RIF.
I haven't handled one myself, but given the glowing reviews on the trigger, this may be my first striker fired pistol.
It's on my short list for sure. FWIW, my meager pistol collection is pretty much all Sig.

There is a P320 9mm at Warhorse Firearms (Grand Prix Guns). They have P250's in 40 S&W too. The 320 is basically a P250 with a DAO trigger. I've handled it and found the trigger to be better than the P250 but lacking otherwise. It has the same advantage of being modular and so the handle, mags, and slide can be changed out without buying a new gun. Personally, I would just buy a new gun for a bit more money than all the parts for the modular insert.
The trigger has a real 'bouncy' feel to the break. It's hard to explain, but it isn't a crisp release. It really has to be felt to understand. The P250 trigger is smooth but other than that it's pretty awful. Inch and a bit to get it to break, inch and a bit to get it to reset. It's a DAO bobbed hammer catastrophe.
My 2 cents.

I haven't actually found one yet. I'm looking at dealers and I am also looking at the p250. I have never handled a DAO semi auto so I am leaning more towards the striker-fired 320, but from the sounds of it, the p250 seems like it is a winner too.
The offer still stands. If you would like to put a couple magazines of .40 S&W or .357 SIG down range, lets set up a time.
The trigger is a long pull and reset for the P250. I doubt you will ever see anyone shoot it competitively, however, I am certain that no one will ever say the pistol discharged without their finger on the trigger (unless they are lying). For someone who prefers carrying handguns without any external safety, the long, smooth trigger, is a safety IMO.
Not for everyone, but as I stated above, I qualify regularly and carry my sub compact daily. If I switch to the full size or change caliber, the pistol literally has the exact same trigger. The swap takes less then a minute and is about as simple as field stripping a Glock.
Be safe.

I might have to take you up on this once I actually have some free time. I'm looking at their 2sum packages that include the full size and the subcompact frames. What do the FCUs run by themselves?
$250 when you can find them. Any deal on a complete gun that includes magazines is a better deal than just the FCU. SIG doesn't sell just an FCU, so if you buy one, you are buying from a gun that was parted out.

The 320 is a fantastic pistol. I have handled and shot them and I love it. Grip angle is the most perfect on any pistol I have ever handled. Ambi slide release and all of the advantages already mentioned. Comes with Trijicons. Handles well too. Very light felt recoil, puts 'em where you aim it. They seem to come with the medium frame.

I have a full size 9mm 320 and love it. Took it out with my G17 and it's easily as nice a shooter. Trigger take up is a little gritty on the Sig but it resets a lot like my other SRT triggers.
Now I'm waiting for the 320 Compact frame to become available and then I'd consider carrying it.
