View Full Version : non-spec LPK
I just received my lower/upper from Aero Precision, along with a LPK from them also. There were two roll pins in the kit that while the proper length, were not even close to the standard diameter for an LPK. You would think that if shipped with their upper/lower, the LPK would have pins that would fit their stuff. Not so much. Fortunately I had some pins and misc. stuff left over from other kits, that fit as you would expect.
I actually had to reduce the diameter of the Pivot Pin substantially to make it fit in their Lower. Weird.
At least the upper fit the Brownells upper vice...not like the VLTOR upper that they thought they needed to add some misc. bits that required a serious dremel escapade to fit.
Just a heads up.

Small vs large pin problem?

It happens more often than you think.
Palmetto for the first 2 years keep sending out wrong spec pistol grip screw. It's off spec just enough that if you torque the screw just a tad stronger, you damage your lower. Spikes had issue in the past too.
I didn't even think about large/small pins, as I thought that referred to the FCG pins. The pivot pin I have is actually mis-formed, as it gets way tighter when rotated, so I think it is ever so slight bent. I don't really have the right tools to measure the slight amount involved. A straight edge against a light didn't tell me anything, but it would rotate about 3/4's of it's travel before become too tight to turn.
And, as mentioned, I got the LPK from Aero Precision with the lower. I plan on picking up another pivot pin at some point and changing it out. My diameter reduction wasn't perfect, but it fits now, so I went all Honey Badger on it.
