Open-carry fight moves to Kroger (http://money.msn.com/top-stocks/post--open-carry-fight-moves-to-kroger)

The advocacy group Moms Demand Action is calling on the grocery chain to ban guns from stores.

I hope the tide is turning for these companies to just tell Bloomberg to take his activism and shove it.

Kroger (KR -0.30%) is the latest retailing chain to be dragged into the battle over gun rights.

The anti-open carry advocacy group Moms Demand Action has issued a statement calling on the grocery company to ban openly-carried firearms in its stores.

In a press release, the group calls out President and COO Michael Ellis and CEO W. Rodney McMullen to ban open carry in Kroger stores. The call comes after pro-open carry activists brought guns into Kroger stores while grocery shopping, a tactic that has drawn the ire of Moms Demand Action before.

A Kroger spokesman referred to an official statement on the companies website which says that Kroger's "long standing policy on this issue is to follow state and local laws and to ask customers to be respectful of others while shopping."

Moms Demand Action has launched campaigns against other retailers in the past several months, including Target (TGT -0.03%), which asked customers not to bring in guns, but did not ban them outright, and Chipotle (CMG -0.60%), which decided to not allow open carry in restaurants. Home Depot (HD -0.13%) has also been a part of the open-carry battle.

OK. I'm getting feed up with these "moms". I have nothing nice at all to say. These are not moms.....they are lemmings. I'd like to call on these moms to stfu and go make a sandwich.

If they are in fact moms, I feel sorry for there kids and husbands. I thought there were about 400K of these moms, what would happen if 5 million NRA members quit shopping at Kings Soopers and other Kroger affiliates. And yes I realize gun owners are never as organized as the lunatic left democrats but some significant portion of the 5 mil would participate. I bet Kroger does not want to stir that pot.

Great point. Writing a letter now. More action less words.

Kudos to Kroger for not caving. Now, it more companies would follow suit...

Isn't MDA another Bloomberg backed "grass roots" group?

Another one of Bloomberg's 'astroturf' organizations.

Good to see Kroger stand their ground.

Poorly written article.

I wonder how long it'll be until some thug decides to pull his gat on a bunch of those old biddies and rob 'em blind. Perhaps that would change their attitudes?

I can't wait until they finish that new King Soopers they're building over here. Anybody have a good corporate email address for sending support letters?

I did, some time ago when the deal first started. They replied twice, once stating their policy would not change and another thanking me for my continued patronage.

I googled Kroger/contact and just went through the lists until I got the right site to send my comments.

I would recommend a mailing address. It is really easy for email to stop at the first person who reads it.
