Maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen a lot of good sweet corn in the stores this summer. I was hoping to freeze a bunch this year so we'd have some for the winter. Isn't it supposed to be a huge crop this year, anybody know which stores are having the best deals on the good sweet stuff? I'm surprised I haven't seen the huge displays with tons of cheap corn like usual.

Might try the Parker farmer's market tomorrow...

I've picked up some ears at different stores recently that said they were from olathe, but it hasn't been a good as I remember them being previously. Been small and seen a lot of underdeveloped ears and some that have started rotting quickly. I have tried different cooking methods as well to see if maybe I was screwing something up. I had thought that they had tried to rush the corn to market too quickly, I'll try a farmer's market next weekend and see.

I agree. Not a good year from Olathe. I've had 1 ear that was really good. The rest, not so much.

Was it too wet? Too cool?

I was gonna post something similar the other day. I had a friend from Iowa send me some sweet corn a few weeks ago and it was phenomenal. Much better than anything I have gotten from Colo stores.

I haven't seen much here and at 2 for a $1 won't be buying much. Te silks look pretty bad too.

Sprouts has 4 for $1. Agreed, Olathe is not quite as tasty as the last few years.

I usually get mine from Palizi's in Brighton. Haven't had a chance to make it over that way yet.

we have 3 local places for corn within a 6 mile radius, not counting ks, and safeway. It's all been good so far. The local places better than years before.

We're keeping all the good Olathe ears here on the Western Slope.....

Didn't you know all the corn is getting turned into gasohol to satisfy Obama's Green agenda?

They should turn into something more useful. Bourbon.

Got some yesterday and it was good on the grill from king soupers.

Peach Street distillery in Palisade makes a vodka out of Olathe corn. Goat Vodka, good stuff if this your type of firewater.

Didn't make it to the farmer's market today, but tried a bit from the Target grocery store. It was only "ok".

The Olathe sweet corn that we've been getting for the past couple of weeks has been very good. It's the 'bi-color' or 'peaches and cream' variety that I'm used to getting from Olathe. The first ears we bought looked like the early season sweet corn that comes from somewhere else (like Florida), but it was labeled Olathe.

I enjoyed the stuff from my dad's garden the most this year. Kind soopers and walmart haven't had as good of corn as usual.
