View Full Version : ISIS takes over major Syrian Air Base

Safe to say the ineptitude of this administration is going to get so many of our own troops and allies killed...

Islamic State fighters captured a major military air base in northeastern Syria on Sunday, eliminating the last government-held outpost in a province otherwise dominated by the jihadi group, activists and state media said.

Tabqa airfield -- home to several warplane squadrons, helicopters, tanks, artillery, and ammunition bunkers -- is the third military base in the area to fall to the extremists since last month. Those victories are part of the Islamic State group's aggressive push to consolidate its hold on northern and eastern provinces, while also expanding the boundaries of its self-styled caliphate straddling the Syria-Iraq border.

Didn't you get the memo? We're supporting the Islamists that are trying to boot out the current Syrian government.

These guys are great case study of a well armed, tech-savvy and well financed terrorist group. We need to pay attention to their actions, since we have an SOB as our CIC!

We trained ground troops who had no issues, opening fire on/ in U.S. bases, here and abroad. You don't think they're not tech savvy? Say 1/8 of fighter pilots coalition forces trained, become ISIS supporters. This ain't T.E Lawrences middle east. There's shit loads of back room money in play, Muslim, russian and more than likely Chinese. The U.S, well that line in the sand's been crossed some time back.

We're OUTRAGED over a media persons beheading, while benghazi became a foot note , somewhere.

We're trying to play a game of supporting Islamist "moderates" against Assad, but not "extremists". Good luck with that.

I don't see this as an entirely bad thing. As a matter of fact, it may be a great opportunity. An airbase with a bunch of aircraft makes an easy target to hit. Bomb the hell out of it and we get to eliminate a Syrian airbase and a bunch ISIS killers. Sounds like a win/win to me.

If only we had a president more interested in working on world problems than playing golf and racist meddling in local state/city affairs.

Man, I'm ready for the new season to start. That show is too damn funny. It's gotten a little bit weak the last couple of seasons IMO but still one of the funnier shows on TV.

Team Obama is supporting the same bad actors that took down the World Trade Center buildings. Go Team Obama!!!! Team Obama supports the Syrian rebels who used nerve gas and killed a bunch of people. Assad did not use nerve gas but his opposition did in an attempt to further darken Assad's image in the world media.

Saddam was and Assad is Baathist, they keep the peace through strongman tactics that the muzzies understand. They kept the muzzies from murdering other muzzies, Jews, and Christians in their respective countries. Team Obama supports the muslims who murder Jews and Christians. These attacks on ISIS are probably because ISIS has gone too far in their murderous travels and bombing ISIS makes it look like Team Obama are the good guys when in fact Team Obama are just another flavor of bad guys.

It came back around a little bit but I have a hard time calling it genius when the use of the 'phrasing' joke occurred what seemed like dozens of times every episode. It was a funny joke when they first used it sparingly but it has become a crutch as of late and has lost it's appeal IMO. The previous season was real rough IMO. But yeah, we are getting OT here and this is a society changing thread so we should allow it to get back on track rather than debate the validity of a cartoon's writers.

IMO Isis is here ready to go. The question is small incursions, making it look like some drunk ran in to a major pumping station. Forest fires in hard to access areas ? Or train, bus, commuter hub / station, with a load of nerve gas, ricin, etc.

You think they'd try to disguise it as something else though like a drunk driver? It wouldn't really be terrorism if they didn't take responsibility for it.

Aloha_Shooter
08-25-2014, 21:57
Disguising the attacks is something I would expect from an adversary trying to disrupt the American economy or distract national leaders while they were engaged in other actions around the globe. ISIS is all about the headlines and provoking terror so I wouldn't expect them to engage in hidden sabotage. I'd expect them to conduct an armed attack on a major shopping mall (ala Nairobi) or similar event designed to scare all the sheeple.

Only a matter of time now:

THE US HAS STARTED flying surveillance drones over Syria after President Obama authorized the missions, two senior Defense officials told Fox News, in a move that could pave the way for eventual airstrikes against Islamic State targets in the country.

"in a move that could pave the way for eventual airstrikes"? Why not just start with the airstrikes instead of pussy footing around. These heathens only understand and respect one thing, action. If our POTUS had a damn spine we wouldn't have to worry about what threat ISIS poses.
