Old Stage Road will FINALLY re-open this weekend! It will be closed during the week for the next few weeks while they finish up repairs (but most of us wheel on the weekends anyway).

Old Stage Road to open over Labor Day Weekend for a limited time
El Paso County officials plan to re-open Old Stage Road for weekend travel beginning Friday afternoon.
The re-opening of the dirt road west of Colorado Springs comes nearly a year after severe flooding caused significant damage to the road, making it impassable. Most of the repair work has been completed, though some grading and drainage ditch work remains.

It will re-open every weekend until repairs are complete - at which point, all closures will be lifted.
"The problem up there is it's very narrow, so when they're working with big equipment, they have to close the road," Rose said.
After the September 2013 floods, county crews made emergency repairs to the road at a cost of nearly $90,000. The county is seeking reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to pay for the repairs.
More extensive work - primarily, the construction of a 50-foot retaining wall, as well as the installation of larger culverts - began in July. Nearly $600,000 was budgeted for the project, which is being completed by Martin Marietta Materials.
The county expects FEMA to pay for three-quarters of the project, with the rest coming from county and state coffers. The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 26.
Now if they'd just get Rampart Range Road opened between Garden of the Gods and the reservoir I'd be so happy.
