Some peoples' kids
Seriously... Kids need to be spanked.
Not sure who needs a spanking based on this...
JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Colorado Department of Transportation closed both directions of C-470 near West Bowles Avenue Monday evening after reports of armed suspects in the area.
Jefferson County deputies later questioned two people but found no guns. Authorities seemed to indicate that the situation was a misunderstanding.
The closures were only precautionary.
The shutdown occurred about an hour before a OneRepublic concert at Red Rocks.

Maybe there were a couple of liberals trying to promote gun control, by adding fuel to the fire.[tinhat]

That'll get you strung up in Boulder! Heck, rabies-infected prairie dogs might be their official "city animal"...
That'll get you strung up in Boulder! Heck, rabies-infected prairie dogs might be their official "city animal"... Is that area considered Boulder? (Serious question really, I consider anything North on 285 and past the Morrison exit, "a suburb of Denver".) [Coffee]

They were probably just "swatting". Apparently that's the cool thing to do these days.
I assumed I would hear the word "airsoft" in a later report when I first heard this story.
sent from a soup can and some string..

Morrison or Littleton
Morrison or Littleton
Thanks, I was guessing its one of those two, always wonder though.
Years ago when I met the wife, she worked near Painter's Supply on Sante Fe, and it was considered Sheridan, and Arapahoe district... kind of baffled me.
But back on topic: Comms have been somewhat silent, got nothing new. Thought I heard mention of a 12 year old and a 6 year old, but friend says that was related to a different incident with JeffCo.

My wife is at that concert. Hope it's just a false alarm.

I was involved in a similar situation in that same area in the early 90s. A deputy was on Quincy right at Turkey Creek Rd. He reported he was pinned down under his car by someone firing a rifle at him. We closed C-470 and 285. The SWAT team was deployed on the Hogback, etc. We did a pretty dynamic officer rescue and could hear the gunfire and rounds going over our heads.
After it was all over it turned out there were some people target practicing on their property right near that intersection. They'd hung their targets on the side of an old barn and were shooting various rifles at them. Most of the rounds were going right through the wooden walls of the barn and sailing out over C-470 towards where the Home Depot is now.
I think they got Reckless Endangerment tickets or something similar.

Way back in the day when I was a teenager, I was involved in WWII reenacting. We used to have our battles right there on the hogback, shooting blanks at one another with real rifles. That was right around the time they were expanding the roadway to become C470.
Never heard a peep from the S.O.

Update (http://www.9news.com/story/news/local/2014/09/02/illegal-camp-site-led-to-c-470-shutdown/14986201/)
JEFFERSON COUNTY - Two transients were arrested Monday for allegedly threatening deputies who were attempting to tear down an illegal campsite near C-470 and West Bowles Avenue.
Travis Johnson and Gabrielle Shirk, both 43, are facing felony menacing charges.
The Colorado Department of Transportation closed both directions of C-470 for several hours Monday after reports of armed suspects on a ridge in the area.
According to an affidavit, the couple were returning to their campsite when they saw Jefferson County deputies dismantling their tent. Johnson yelled "I see you by the tent." Johnson then stated "I got guns on you," according to the affidavit.
Deputies then took cover and called for back up. Deputies with guns drawn were seen climbing the hill above the highway. A police helicopter was also in the area searching for the suspects.
The couple were later found hiding in some overbrush in the area. The suspects told authorities they had spotted two people on the mountainside with guns. That turned out to be untrue and dragged the entire incident out even longer, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Johnson told deputies that he was sorry for "getting everyone involved."
The two had been camping illegally in the area since Aug. 24.
