Anyone else watching this on The History Channel? I'm impressed; I was aware of his devotion to his mother but this shows a whole other side to him.
but this shows a whole other side to him.
Haven't seen it. The question I'd ask is if it's actual, historical accounts or if it's the typical dramatized/fictionalized BS that HC seems to have fallen into for the sake of ratings?

I wrote a report on Howard Houdin in high school. Does that count?
* I can't even remember if his first name was really Howard or not.

It was a pretty good show, they touched on a lot of the history, and there has definitely been some dramatization, but not bad. kept my attention.
Most surprising, my 7 year old neice was glued to the t.v., I had no idea she liked magic. If I had known, I would have cracked open my old magic stuff sooner. I used to drive my family crazy constantly showing them the latest and greatest effect I learned.
My folks groaned a little when they saw I pulled out the dime and penny.
I had no idea he was employed by the US and UK for espionage work. Good show with cool visual effects.
OT but a recommended movie with Brody is 'Harrison's Flowers' where he plays a press photographer in war torn Yugoslavia.

Well ... this website calls a lot of the History Channel's biopic false: http://www.wildabouthoudini.com/2014/09/fact-checking-historys-houdini-night-one.html. Obviously, lots of spoilers in it since it's calling out fact and fiction.
HC, (include also TLC, Discovery, AP, etc,) seems to be focusing on drama more than actual history which actually bums me out. The "based on historical events" type disclaimers are often translated as "You've heard the names, but we're making all the rest of it up in an attempt at 'art and entertainment'." Miss the old Wild America series and the like.
