View Full Version : Man builds a tower of US Regulations, and it, of course, collapses.

From The Blaze:

This Guy Built a Tower to Show How Bad Federal Regulations Have Gotten. Wait for When It Starts to Collapse on Top of Him.
Massive.

Gargantuan.

Unreadable.

There are plenty of words to describe the enormous expanse of federal red tape, but Patrick McLaughlin, a senior research fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center, took the maxim “a picture is worth a thousand words” to heart when he set out to visualize the growth in federal regulations between 1950 and 2013.

In 1950, federal regulations were nothing to sneeze — in the neighborhood of 10,000 pages, according to McLaughlin — but maybe a smart person with plenty of time on their hands could get through it.

How much regulation has been added between then and now?

Watch the video to see (spoiler: it’s a lot) and witness the immense stack nearly crush McLaughlin, helping to prove his point about red tape:

HOLY CRAP!
I don't know about the rest of you, but this car's accelerator is stuck to the floor and it is really getting out of control! [Mad]

Surely there is a law against so many regulations. I am outraged. I'd start a revolution, but I am already a casualty. You guys go on without me...

Everyone sent to DC is responsible.

Of course the Democratic party has been mostly responsible. Unfortunately, with our system of government, both parties are oftentimes forced to do things they wouldn't do on their own. And the lines have really become more blurred in the past several years, admittedly. But democrats aren't called the party of big government for nothing. Obviously some republicans, especially the old guard types, are just as guilty. But Tea Party republicans and conservatives are the ones calling for reductions in the size of government...not democrats.

If you would have said "think it's only the democrats that are responsible," I would have given you a double high-five. Instead, you get a thumbs up. [Awesom]

Perfectly valid statement. I'm glad more and more people are finally seeing this (not necessarily talking about you BG). [Beer]

This! While both parties have some blame, the Lion's share belongs with the dems/progressives, like Bailey said. Don't believe me? See Obamacare.

And O-care is a 100% democrat monstrosity. Not a single republican voted for a "healthcare system" that will expand government control over 1/6 of the US economy and will destroy health care as we know it in this country.

Under Beeho, tons of new regs are being drafted without an underlying law. This isn't even about executive orders. Congress has largely abdicated any responsibility for the regulations written by many beaurocracies - the EPA for example.
