I've done some google searches and tried here too, but is Body armor legal in Colorado? Was thinking of looking for a jacket to complement my CCW for colder weather. And if it were legal, to look at ones with integral armor. I just thought it would be a simple search, but nothing so far???
Just an idea, maybe not a good one.
I am pretty sure it is legal...not positive. I have seen several people buy it and I have seen it for sale at the guns shows before.

If memory serves, the only time it is illegal, is if you wear it during the commission of a crime. Or possibly, if you are a felon. Not positive.
check out the gun show today and tomorrow. I have seen vests and plates for sale there.

It's legal. Much like using a gun during the commission of a crime, wearing body armor during the commission of a crime ups the charges and adds time to your sentence, but it's legal to buy, sell, own, etc.

Check out www.bulletproofme.com (http://www.bulletproofme.com). Those guys have unused to lightly used LEO surplus or are willing to produce custom body armor.

A level III vest with level IV trauma plates is the only way to go. Albeit heavy.
Those are on my shortlist for sure.

BINGO!
If you are considering buying something used, ensure it's in really good condition and check the manufacture date for items like Second Chance Vests - they do degrade through time, simple wear, and body oils/etc.
New stuff is expensive, but if you're buying it for your safety the question to ask yourself is "How much is my life worth". I have my old Second Chance vest from when I played cop, but I never wear it. If I was concerned enough to wear armour again I'd rather my obituary/tombstone read "Priceless" versus "$50 on eBay".

Why wear it? I can see if your line of work calls for it but come on.
Just work on your "Matrix" skills. That's what I do [Tooth]

same with those pesky sidearms...I mean if you aren't a cop then why wear it.
Seriously. Everyone should have some body armor and plates with a decent carrier. Everyone.
I have a level2 vest w/ 3 trauma plates (2front, 1back). It isn't that bad wearing during winter time, but during summer really really sucks!
When I walk about a mile with it, and I am already soaked with sweat.
Besides protection, I guess it is a great way to lose weight! hahaha
My advice wearing body armor during summer:
- get hydrated
- dedorants/anti-perspirants
- make sure you get properly fitted. If there's no fitter, buy a size smaller.
Where do you wear body armor?

Chest, back, arms, groin.... Sorry, I couldn't resist that one (sort of like "Surely you can't be serious").

I wear it day in and day out for work... Its perfectly legal for a civ to own, just like people said before, unless you commit a crime. tips for wearing it? good pit-stick. dont wear cotton tee's under it unless you like ingrown chest hairs. buy some underarmor t-shirts, not the thicker ones, but the ones that have the weave kinda like longjohns only lightweight. and be prepared to sweat. if i sweat 5 min into my shift, then go the rest of the day in the air conditioning, my undershirt is still wet at the end of the day!
I know what everybody is going to say about how underarmor will melt to your skin if it catches fire, but if im facing that kind of threat, i think my level 2 vest isnt going to be worth a damn either!!!
There for sale off the shelf at the parker gun store. I believe they had vests and trauma plates. corner of main and parker rd

Thanks everyone. Something made me think twice before I ordered some more 5.11 HRT pants with the Kevlar crotch. Not really 'bullet proof', but I just wanted to make sure I didn't run afoul of any silly laws. I guess as long as I don't get caught speeding in them....
By they way, they are great pants, they just have odd sized left, but they are like $14.99 at some clearance places online. Great for shooting classes, and for working in the garden with the built in knee-pads and non-slip.
