View Full Version : Silly 922R compliance question

Ok. Hypothetically speaking, if a person had an import rifle that met all of the 922R compliance stuff but had a normal, plain barrel with no threading or muzzle device, could a US made muzzle break (not flash hider) be installed if it was done in a permanent manner? In other words, if the barrel was threaded, the US made muzzle brake was installed and blind pinned and welded, would it be good to go?

A muzzle brake wouldn't be a flash hider, the part would be US made so no foreign parts will be added, and the install would be permanent so technically the barrel would not be considered threaded.

What do you guys think or know about the subject?

Thanks.

Has anyone ever been charged with 922 non-compliance ...ever?

You should be good to go if it already has met the 922 count. Anything else shouldn't matter.

Once you permanently attach a US mfg muzzle device to a bbl. The whol unit becomes 922 comp as the weld, blind pin etc is permanently attached to bbl. You don't have another US part if the bbl was us made.
I'll need to dig around for the interpretation for it.

If you're already 922r compliant, adding U.S. made parts won't change anything. A foreign muzzle device would add one countable part, and probably make your rifle noncompliant.

Thanks guys. I figured I would probably be within the law. Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

There are no silly 922r questions...only silly federally provided answers. Heck, 922r IS a silly answer. To a question that was never asked.
