I can't actually call it an AR-10 because it's not going to have any Armalite parts in it, at least not on purpose.
I changed a gas block on another AR recently, so... since I have an extra gas block, I better build another gun around it. Seems legit, right?
Here's the list of parts that I have on hand right now that have been dedicated to this project:
Syrac Ordnance Adjustable Gas block
Rifle length gas tube
DPMS Pattern melonited BCG ( http://www.radicalfirearms.com/AR-10-308-BCG-p/308-bcg-mpi.htm )
upper receiver
lower receiver (this is a matched receiver set. I got this one: http://megaarms.com/maten/receiver-sets/billet-upper-lower-sets/mts-4440-sa/ )
barrel (this one was sent to me for a very good price: http://megaarms.com/maten/maten-barrels/new-barrel )
handguard ( part of the receiver kit )
buffer tube ( LGS had a rifle length one for $12 )
lower parts kit
trigger
buffer and spring
pistol grip
Here's a list of parts that have been ordered:
Heres a list of parts that I have yet to order:
I will update this thread as the parts come in, and I'll detail how the build progresses. Please feel free to comment and discuss.
More to follow.
Totally Seems legit...

Yeah, I used that picture as an excuse. Wife didn't disagree. Silence equals consent (at least in building guns)

The BCG arrived a few days ago. It seems well built, solid, etc. Interestingly enough, it has a single-piece gas ring setup that looks like a spring. I plan on suppressing this gun, so not having to align the gas rings (or worry about it too much) is a bit of a blessing.

I ordered the upper, lower, rail, barrel, stock, and receiver extension.
upper/lower/rail is the Mega MKM set.
barrel is a 20" Mega match grade.
stock is a Magpul MOE rifle length.

I'm interested in how the mega barrels are. I used a fulton 18.5" rifle length gas barrel on my mega build and it shoots sub moa.

The Mega barrels are guaranteed to be sub-MOA..... Well, under 1" @ 100 yards, is the actual verbiage.

I just received the receiver set, barrel, and stock today.
I have avoided clicking on this thread. 'Cause I haven't built an AR-10 yet. Yet. Get it? Yet... Anyway, I've built some AR-15s, and AKs, etc...
Then, I saw the pic of the roll pin. Um, yeah, that totally seems legit. I can guarantee I have at least ONE roll pin left over somewhere...At least that what I told the trophy wife when she asked what I was laughing my arse off at. That was HER mistake. Right?
Yeah, totally not my fault. She was the one that asked. It's not like I asked HER! Right?
So, decisions, decisions...
I'm reminded of when I was totally the Aviation Guy. Someone finds a data plate from a WW2 era wreck in the Great Lakes, or somewhere in the far east, and then they build a complete classic airplane around that data plate. Yeah, it's kinda like that.
Hmm, I've got a TBAC comp/adapter for .308 on my LR rifle...and the TBAC suppressors come WITH a comp/adapter...heck, I'm halfway there!!!

I try to use this logic with everything regarding my wife.
She's a lurker here, I'm totally getting slapped for that.

Thanks everyone! It balances nicely now with no optic or bipod.
Unfortunately I haven't shot this yet. I'm going to borrow a go/no-go gauge set and make sure it all spaces right. It's all DPMS pattern, but I'm going to double check it before I pull the trigger.
For now, I lubed it up and dry fire it. A lot.

It ran pretty darn well. As part of the 'break-in', I was just getting the gas dialed in. This thing needs wide open to run without a suppressor. I attribute that to the slash's heavy buffer system. If I had an low mass operating system, I don't think I would be able to get the gas turned down enough if I wanted to use a suppressor.
suppressor use was pretty sweet. Turned the gas down a couple clicks, and all was well. No over pressure signs on the brass, not too much blow back.
the bad..... My scope decided to take a crap before I got it really zeroed in. So, broke scope drill it was for the remainder of shooting.
The accuracy? I have no idea what it will be at the 100 yard line. I was able to predictably hit a 12" gong at 600 with it, so its at least 2-MOA. The barrel comes with a sub-MOA guarantee, and I look forward to seeing what it will do when I get to that point.
BUT: I gotta get a new optic first.

That's too bad about your scope. There are a lot of really good scopes available now. Going to be a tough choice unless you already have one in mind.
