nope. Just dropped $300 bills at big O for my car (2 tires) and have 4 more waiting for the wife's jeep, same place ~ $600.

Everyone will have good luck at one tire shop vs another, sometimes with decent savings. Just depends on the types and sizes of tires.

Been looking around myself as I need 4 new ones for my Explorer. Anything decent is looking like $130 each. I've been hoping to at least see one of those buy 3 get the 4th free deals, but with cold rain projected this week I'll probably be stopping off tomorrow to get them done. My right rear tire has been dropping about 10 psi a week for 3 weeks now and it's not fun having to pay a buck just to turn on an air compressor at the gas station.

I only order from tirerack.com They usually have great prices, and since they now have a warehouse in town, you can get your tires delivered within 24-48h. Last time, even with shipping and install, it was 150$ less than the cheapest price in town for the same set.

Also show those prices to your local store and tell them you would like to keep business local if they can match it. I've only bought 1 set of new tires in my life, but that worked for me.

Costco and Sams Club usually have pretty good prices (and frequent "Buy 3, get 1 free" sales)

I do business with both Big O and Discount, been very happy, most recent was with a Big O near me and they were very happy to match or beat any price I could show I could get.

yep, Big O matched pricing of other places online for the 2 tires I just got. All I had to do is comment that I would have to check with goodyear... he dropped a few bucks off each tire.

I just don't get much out of price shopping tires anymore. Lots of work and little return. I watch my father drive all around, waste all the fuel and time and he Boasts about saving $3 a tire. I'd rather pay $4 extra and be done with it. :)

He has the best of luck with pricing at Sears so he claims. ??

My brother claims to order stuff cheaper through walmart.com and ship it to the local store for mount/balance.

Just have to dig around.

Don't laugh, but when I bought my 37"s for my jeep, I ordered them from amazon. They beat Discount, Discount online, Tirerack, etc. and they shipped free w/ Amazon prime. Delivery guy was very happy to see I was home because he couldn't get anything in/out of his truck with those tires in there.

Got new meats, for the Cherokee, yesterday. Stock size Wild Country ATs. Set me back $760 for four tires and an alignment. They last/handle pretty well in the mountains.

I doubt that fits in the "good deal" category though.

A deal is only as good as the service. If you have to book a balance and rotation two weeks out or wait hours, I'd rather pay a bit more up front. Having options while i'm waiting on the car is also a good deal, decent reading material, free coffee, shopping nearby or a place to eat etc.

Thanks for info/suggestions guys. Looks like off to Chinamart as price is primary factor in this case. They beat everybody else and have had no issues with a past tire purchase from them.

Old beater + cheap tires = recaps. I've been buying from Treadwright for years, only had one problem (had a separated bead on one) and they sent a new tire after I sent them a picture. You'll have people say recaps are crap, but keep air pressure right in them and they are as good as anything. I use them on my F250, 90% of the time it has a trailer on it or is on gravel, or both. They don't last as long as virgins (I've got 34,000 on this set, tread isn't gone, but probably replace them for winter). I'm thinking I may try some tires www.tirerecappers.com this time since they include free shipping.

Yeah, I guess for those smaller tires it's not so much of a price difference, but for my 10 ply LT265x75r16 they are $110-130, way better than the $170-240... I have gone to spending the money for new ST tires for my trailers that see much use, for beater around the farm trailers my local tire place will give me tires out of the "worn out" pile for $15, mounted.

You probably buy better tires than I do normally.
235 85 16 is actually a taller tire than the 265. the 265 is a little over an inch wider, but not as tall. all my tires are 10ply too. Essentialy they are the same height but 1 inch difference in width. 235 is the tire size that was on just about every 1 ton truck or trailer from the 1980-late 1990s, when they got stupid and started pushing 17", 20" and every other stupid wheel size.
I run 265s on my family van. I buy tires from M&O in Greeley for new. Most of my tires are used and come out of either M&O or Lopez tires on 8th ave in the Ghetto.
i hate putting expensive tires on trailers that get pulled infrequently. Thanks to Hickenlooper my registration for each trailer is bad enough. It sucks to drive a trailer on the road 2 or 3 times a year and have to pay their exhorbitant "fees".
