View Full Version : Obama's Speech and his ISIS Strategy

In my opinion, a lot of bluster hyping half-assed measures to combat these killers. He thinks he's going to do it with air power alone, without risking a ground force (with the exception of 450 troops sent to advise and train). No mention of securing our borders (at least that I recall hearing). Lots of "I've ordered", "I've spoken with", etc. Everything has to be centered on him.
I find it ironic that Obama is making the same decisions that he's constantly criticized Bush for making. He sure sounds like Bush by talking about the "coalition" he's building. He's also saying he doesn't need congressional approval for sending forces in harm's way, something he's been critical of Bush doing.
The bottom line: I don't see us making much headway against groups like ISIS and I see the fight coming here before much longer, one way or another.
It's unfortunate for the US that we have one of the weakest leaders in our history sitting in the White House at a time when we need someone much, much stronger. I have no doubt we have the capability to destroy ISIS, at least as a functioning group. I also have no doubt we don't have leadership willing to do what it takes to do that.
Spot on, the man is clueless and spineless. I'd like to know who really writes the crap he so eloquently reads.
Another circus that will get our fine military men killed for absolutely nothing.

Turned it off soon after he stated ISIS is not Islamic. WTF?

I feel so safe now. He said America is safer because of strong leadership.
What a Fuk'n idiot we have.

I heard that blurb on the radio this morning, and had the same reaction. I think he makes it pretty clear who's side he's on, and who he is trying to "protect".

Very clear, or he is reading a hugely modified and enormously naive version of the Koran.

It's ALWAYS been all about him. See the video below. (Maybe it belongs in the funny video thread)

But hasn't this been obvious from day one?

I think you will find agreement with that statement across all 57 states.

Shorter Version Obama ISIS JV Team Speech: Osama bin Laden is Dead and GM is Alive!
I have a tee time so gotta run.
Oh almost forgot I made more jobs and cured Ebola.
So, the "strategy" is to fight them and fund them at the same time?
http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2014/09/10/vetted-moderate-free-syrian-army-commander-admits-alliance-with-isis-confirms-pj-media-reporting/
As President Obama laid out his “strategy” last night for dealing with ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and as bipartisan leadership in Congress push to approve as much as $4 billion to arm the Syrian “rebels,” it should be noted that the keystone to his anti-Assad policy — the “vetted moderate” Free Syrian Army (FSA) — is now admitting that they, too, are working with the Islamic State.
Allies in the coalition?
How many allies does he have left in his own party?
My magic 8 ball tells me he gets nothing through Congress before the mid term and only the bare minimum will be passed afterwards. I can't say that I am unsatisfied by a lack of any legislation being passed into law in DC.

It would be possible to eliminate them using only air strikes.

I always thought that was a beautiful picture.
I see no need to spend anything attacking them in that waste land if we are not going to secure and seal our borders.
I think we should not attack just because they beheaded two reporters, even if they were American. Are they trying to distract us in the wasteland just to sneak in from the south and hit us here?
I think we also need to stop pushing democracy in these uncivilized lands. We need to be selfish with our power and stop running to every little humanitarian crisis. If it doesn't affect us directly, just let it happen and let those in the region take care of it.
It would be interesting to go back in time and see the state of the middle east if we never liberated a worthless arab kingdom from Iraq. Was a powerful Iraq a good balance to Iran, similar to the USA vs USSR? It may have even kept clinton or obama from rising to power here.

How much of an international incident would there be IF. Someone was to get a permit for a speech on denvers capitol steps. Then pull an isi-whatever flag reproduction out and blow their nose with it?
Would said person be covered under 1st amendment umbrella ?
I figure many islam apologist would be upset.
Figure FBI, state dept. homeless security, possibly atf might drop by said persons dwelling, just to ask some questions. Coffee and donuts anyone?
WHERE'S HOWARD BEALE WHEN AMERICA WANTS HIM ?
