Looks like the property has access to runway.
"The home is in a Airpark neighborhood on Piper drive. The neighborhood is a group of homes with easements leading to a runway at the Erie Municipal Airport."

Well I'm glad I don't know them. Have several people I know and family that live over there!
Guy is a Chinese national, don't know more.

We flew out of Afghanistan on 9/11 at the end of my first deployment. Everybody was just waiting for something to happen.

They want him to build a wall to keep out the Mongolians.
[facepalm]Good grief, this went south fast....stop the punishment!
So the home owner wasn't even home as he was on vacation and only knew about the raid as his neighbors and media called him? Call BS or what?
If he is innocent, if I was him, I would be LIVID............
Search warrants get served whether there are people home or not. If there isn't an arrest warrant to go with an occupant of the house, it is often better to serve when no one is home. Less people get put on the ground during the initial sweep before the real search begins.
I have no idea what they were looking for and obviously neither does the new media. The homeowner may not know and he is being honest or surprise, surprise, he may know and not be telling the truth to the reporters.
Daylight warrant. I would guess they knocked and announced, but if no one was home, only the agents would know. Most importantly, no one was injured. Let the investigation proceed.
This is not that unusual in a day for law enforcement. The Erie airport has been in the news twice recently. This story and last week a plane crashed killing five people just short of the runway. I have no reason to believe the two stories are related.

Just watched a short interview on Fox with one of the homeowners neighbers, where the neighbor said "it could be something as simple as routine checks", or something along those lines. That is SCARY, the fact that this woman actually believes there are "checks" that are "routine".

But they always come and knock it down...

Or in a country that doesn't have extradition deasl with the U.S
We don't even know what this was about, so I think it's a bit early to be coming up with conspiracy theories as to why a man wasn't at home at 2 in the afternoon on a Thursday.
Oh, and the Mongolians are already here. There is a HuHot at 144th and I-25 [LOL]

Might a job or taking care of other business be a good excuse to be away from home? Maybe he was meeting with his attorney[S] since the house was sub-leased.

Awesome grub!
This is probably another good reason to not let your neighbors know what you have.
"The guy in that house has GUNS and lots of BULLETS! I fear for the safety of my children, please DO SOMETHING!"
............That is SCARY, the fact that this woman actually believes there are "checks" that are "routine".
Yes that is scary that she thinks that, is these things are so routine that we start to not care and dont think twice about it. Kind of like a car alarm. I remember when strangers cared and would check, now we say; "their stupid care alarm going off again."
Grandpa always told me to "Trust, but verify and to be truly free question EVERYTHING they do."
He also would say; "I am so hungry I could eat the southbound end of a north bound mule." so take it for whatever. [Coffee]

Yes regular productive members of society by a large margin would be at work on the day and at that time, but in the news article they called him and he stated he was "on vacation." Coincidence?
Conspiracy theories too early your right, not enough info, news media at the chomp for be first news. Chuck called it right, not too out of the ordinary.

Routine checks, at a private airpark neighborhood, this guys flight plans lead to shady places,
The plane Crash that happened last week involved a local prominent real estate attorney, Oliver was good man and a friend to everyone in my line of work. He made our jobs easier everyday RIP

This is exactly what I said to my wife. Scariest part of the story is that she probably represents a large segment of the sheeple out there.
