View Full Version : Tanner Gun Show Sept. 20-21
Tanner show next weekend, Merchandise Mart
I'll be there with my M1 carbine!
Whats 7.62x39 going for these days at the Tanner?
I have to (real world) work Saturday on a big cutover, so no joy for me Saturday. Maybe Sunday if I'm not up all night.
I'll be on the beach in Maui that weekend.

Gunshow at Merchandise Mart and Motorcycle Expo/swap meet at National Western Complex.. should be a good weekend to blow some money. :)
Hope to get there on Saturday, not Sunday, with my 4567 if I still have it (sigh, lol).

Okay, maybe not.

What's the chances of getting a decent deal on a stripped lower? Forged, nothing fancy.
Probably nowhere near as good of a deal as getting one from PSA or AIM and paying the transfer fee. I usually see Spikes lowers going for ~$150

I'd check with local vendors on here. I know colorado hack had some good deals on stripped lowers
Does tanner have a place to do private party transfers? If, how much?

Lots. Randy at R&S does all mine.
Sent from my subconscious mind.

Yup as you walk in, to the right before you pay there are tables set up, I think it's $20 but I could be wrong. The last time I went there were a limited number of dealers doing them also.

Haven't been in a while and had a relative in town so I thought I go. My thoughts:
* Healthy crowd but not over busy (~11am)
* Couldn't believe the number of dealers selling newly manufactured pistols (how do they all stay in business?)
* 30rd Magpul parts kits?! Wow, brave
* Lots of dealers selling AR's in all stages of assembly
* Lots of AR related parts. Also lots of UTG crap for sale.
* Laughed to myself at some of the stories I always hear at those shows
* Deals might have been found at 9:01 but I went home with most of the $ I brought
* The Silver Guy seemed like a popular stop for many
* Cute springer spaniel pups out front for sale
Enjoyable show and now I'm good for another 2 years.
I was there from ~9-10:30, not as crowded as last show, not as many deals to be had as last show. Did find a few good prices on some odds and ends I've been looking for. Ran into an old colleague, thought he was a libtard, but we started exchanging loading recipes. Go figure.
The price of powder is #%&$*+>=<# RIDICULOUS ! 8-lbs. of powder $195. OK, i admit, I haven't shopped for powder in a while.
Typical Tactical TnA at the DPMS table, not as many 600-lb.women on electric scooters, and the usual "experts" who still live in their parents basement. All normal gun show stuff.

I don't think I've seen so many HiPoint carbines at any one show. Otherwise, as stated above, lots of AR15s in various stages, quite a few US made AKs, and the usual .22 ammo gougers. Lowest price on an AR15 stripped lower was $85. Was hoping to find some new 6.5 or 6.8 ammo and some parts.
Got there right at 9, 4567 in tow. Wandered around a bit, saw some nice older S&Ws (my weakness) though most of them were priced too high for me (a 2.5" 686 that's been with the same dealer at least 2 years), met a nice couple at their table-chatted for a while and they offered space on their table for my 4567. That was very nice of them. I walked around some more, sold the old laser I had that came with that pistol when I bought it, picked up 500 rds of Federal 9mm for $130, grabbed a Wolff spring kit for my 1911, final purchase was a neat little Gerber knife, $19, from a gentleman along the back wall with a big sign "Grandpa's". My Smith didn't sell but frankly I had a decent time, may try again tomorrow.
Pleasantly surprised by the lack of the unwashed and uninformed.

Depending which on line vendor or LGS it's running $150-160 per keg. SW had Tac $25 per lb. That's $200 for 8lbs. I'm hoping the $300 average for 223 will slowly lower the demand for components, hoping.
People really didn't seem to be interested in moving product. I found some cool sixguns, but most everything was $100 (on the low end) over market value, was a bit of a bummer.

That's the thing, the new HiPoint carbines have been everywhere. The last few Tanners I went to, probably half a dozen dealers were selling them.

Didn't find anything on my shopping list for a reasonable price. When everything I saw was well over the price of all of the LGS that are not even discount shops, not going to buy it at the gun show just 'cause I'm there.
I did see a lot of AR's that were affordable. Pricing on the AR family is coming down sharply from a year ago.
I didn't see much that I was really interested in but I'm getting real picky lately.
The little guys with the cool little things don't go anymore because table rent is too high for them, they won't make enough to even pay their setup costs, Tanner priced them out. Some of the vendors who can go appear to be trying to make up their setup costs on 4 or 5 sales and that isn't going to work either, especially in a down economy and with the holidaze approaching.
The only thing in short supply appeared to be certain powders, Alliant 2400 and TiteGroup for me. I noticed that readily available powders, IMR 4064 for instance did come down 3 or 4 bucks a pound from the last show, I expect they'll be less at the October show.
The number of people wasn't steady, it was in like 20 minute waves, 20 minutes of crowd and then 20 minutes of slack. Again I think this reflects the economy, alot of people are in small businesses or self employed, I'm sure the costs and uncertainty of this Obamacare debacle are weighing heavily one them and as a result they are spending less.

Got an email saying first 10 ID carrying Veterans would get NRA pocket knife...........they did not have the knifes. We got a small box of .22 ammo instead. Kind of a letdown.
I was up front wearing black polo, tan pants and a tan hat. The real handsome one if you where there before opening.
A little off topic, but what is the protocol/etiquette for CCW at Tanner. Or any gunshow in this brave new world?

As an attendee, you will have to clear weapon prior to entering the building and declare upon entry. Weapon will be zip-tied by staff.

Dealers are supposed to clear and zip-tie their CCW weapons. Seems to be the honor system on that side.

Guns are also required to be cleared and tied when placed on the table for display.
There are penalties for not following the rules about clearing and tying firearms!

And yet...well, you know. ND's on a regular basis. Well, maybe not regular, but un-nervingly often.
Anyone notice the new hole in the wall? Apparently there was an ND yesterday when they were setting up.
Fucking idiots.
Can anybody verify imr 4831 at tanner this weekend and a price. Thanks
Was parking free or what? I heard there was an xmas show in the other building and both shows were charging for parking.

No charge for Tanner.
No charge for Tanner.
I had just gotten back in town and only got there around 3PM. I heard that earlier, due to the Christmas show, the state patrol had the off ramp closed for a time and the closest parking was .5 mile or more away from the Mart.

Looks like a family reunion. No sighting of RM?
Somebody was talking to the guy that sells the mags that was recorded saying dumb shit on that News4 story.
I felt like telling mag guy he was a fucktard for yapping about it in public.
