View Full Version : Ozone Generator?
In another thread several folks mentioned use of an ozone generator for mitigating smoke/odor damage. Checking around the internet and it seems like there are conflicting reports (no surprise there), so I wonder of you guys can provide some recommendations - like brand and model number?
TIA

Vaportek 4000. I believe that is the one I used. Used in Janitorial and in hospitals. About 200.00
Queenaire Thunder-24 Ozone Deodorizer
Used it for years, got stolen, replaced it with the same unit.
Is there any problem with using an ozone generator in a room with appliances (like a kitchen) or electronics?
Appliances no but you have to kind of guage the run time based on the units output and the sq foot.
Ive never ran them near sensative electronics so I cant comment but I have seen plastics get soft if you over do it per hbars post

I was told that Ozone will attack rubber seals on refrigerators, coolers, freezers , and other appliances with these seals.
Just for fun. Since im on the way to set one up now. Ill put a variety of materials directly in front of it and report back in the am
Edit. Start time 4:30. New piece of vinyl flooring. A piece of paper. A digital watch a chunk of copper and a freezer door directly in front of the above ozone machine
839 am stop time. Not a damn thing happened

That's pretty much what happens.... Prolonged exposure or high concentrations of it can cause the plastic to do other things...
I had a pair of hockey pads that had to get tossed.

My mother sent me one years ago as a gift touting some kind of health benefit. It's hard to quantify the results other than you can smell it (like just before a thunder storm). We had a small grease fire one evening and the ozone machine seamed to take care of that odor pretty quick.
Eventually the unit burst into flames though and nearly burned my house down.
