Based from something I saw here on the site I have a question and want to see what everyone thinks.

Here's the question.

You post a firearm for sale for lets say for the sake of the argument $500.00
Some one says they'll take the said firearm at the asking price of $500.00 and agree on a time and place to meet.

Before the meeting time some one either here on the board or elsewhere offers more money than the asking price.

Since the first deal was made with a verbal or written agreement on the $500.00 price, should that be the end of it?

Should the seller be able to bump the price for what ever the reason might be?

Should the seller face a Co-AR-15.com punishment of some sort for backing out after an agreement was made?

A man is only as good as his word.

You make a deal for a set price, thats the deal.

I would have to agree. Tarnishing your name by revamping the deal after an agreement has been made is not worth it.

Glad to see a moderator jump in with the good word [Beer]

Yep, seems like the public highlight of the event is enough. After all, that is the whole point of the feedback system in the first place.

Feed back system is just that. I was asking for opinion. Not ment for the feed back forums

I didn't mean it that way. I was just saying that with the Feedback system in place, any extra punishment from the board is kind of overboard and arf.comish.

I agree, you made a deal now stick to it. If you have bad business practices then expect bad feedback.

That you even had to ask this question is enough to show the rest of us what you (OR the one who said they were offered more) are about.
If i drove anywhere to meet you, and upon arrival that you were offered more BUT decided to see if i would meet that price, I'd knock you out.
Think that get me bad feedback??????

Wasn't me. If it was I wouldn't give a fuck about asking the question as I would have already fucked the person in the sale. I was merely asking a question that was related to a sale that happened here and thought I would ask what everyone else thought not mucking up the "feed back" section of the forum.

I've had two contacts here this year that were not up to the expected levels of basic fairness and/or civility.

One told me he wanted to purchase my item. We first emailed (PM) the deal basics back and forth then transferred to several phone calls. When the meet came down to it's final details like time and spot, this member simply fell off the face of the earth. His once timely PM's and return calls disappeared. He returned back to forum activity here but never answered my inquiries as to what happened. I held the item for him over a busy weekend and told three or four members that it was sold.

The second was with a fellow who always wants to buy a certain brand of revolver in just about all of the local forums. Our deal was to be a + or - trade and we shot several emails back and forth. When I detailed what I had and my thoughts on it's market value - ALL correspondence stopped. It's obvious he's into "cherry-picking" from the general populace who respond to his ads to buy these guns and is most likely just interested in screamin' deals for himself. Can't say that's all bad, but for me it's all about his bedside manner. Until I saw him posting again, I thought he died.

No worries, neither of these guys are what you'd consider regular contributors or posters here.

I would stick to the original deal.. I have had a few rifles I built for sale on here, and first person who contacts me to purchase always has dibbs. I also let people know what place in line they are in if for whatever reason it falls through. You are only as good as your word, and as good as the product you sell.

I think once the deal has been confirmed then that is it. A man is only as good as his word.

In the words or scarface: "All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one"

Sure, it is a free world where the guy can accept more money and in the end, he will end up with extra cash in his pocket, but he broke his word. that is worth a lot more to most people.

Another lesson is, ask what you would like to get out of the gun. if that means starting high and working your way down and accepting offers, then do it that way.
