Ok long story short I bought a vehicle from a "dealer" who represented himself as such, has a store front (more of a repair shop) and have not got my title for the vehicle (Its a Harley motorcycle btw) after a few months.

It was not running and I have since repaired it and looking to make sure my paperwork is squared away.

What would be my best course of action toward getting a title?

I have found the statutes that apply to this situation and what he did was against the law (dealer selling me the vehicle without including title at time of sale)

As a dealer it should be alot easier for him to go through title bond process if that is what needs to be done. I don't really want to be a dick and threaten legal action because of that.

Where should I start with this? What is a reasonable time frame to give the guy?

I'll take any advice and won't hold you liable lol.

Reasonable time frame? Dealer gets the money when I get the title.

Have you had the VIN checked? Receiving and selling stolen merchandise are both criminal offenses. Make certain you have not received stolen property.

What excuse did the dealer give you for not giving you the title at the time of purchase?

Yeah, I wouldn't have ever given the money without the title.. There is little to no incentive for him to follow through, if he couldn't give it to you at time of sale I doubt he has a fire under his ass to give it to you now. Hopefully you have a bill of sale? Temporary tags?

tell him give you a refund or a title. you won't be able to plate it during the bond process and it needs to go in for MULTIPLE appointments. If there's an issue CSP will come by and take the bike.

Ask me about my 1000rr that CSP has now.

Get your money back and walk.

Yes I have a proper bill of sale. I have bought vehicles from dealers before and they had mailed the title out so I figured it was not going to be an issue.

Lighting a fire under his ass is my goal.

What is the reasoning he has given for the delay?

Don't dick around, don't threaten legal action, start legal action.
