So I have the others and they are OK but my mom sent me some she got from Costco. Did some searching and it is a commercial company that deals with restaurants. These things rock. Best dehydrated hashbrowns ever. Trying to find a source for bulk. There is a place in denver but I have not got that far. Do not know if the Costco here carries them but even the price on the small containers was not bad. 504435044550447

I bought my first one in that corner store on the way to the South Site, in deckers. Got hooked on these too :D

Expiration date is relatively far out I think. I don't have any currently on hand. I can tell you though, that half of a carton makes enough for three people. Then you just put the rest in the fridge and try to eat them within a week. My wife doesn't like hashbrowns and I always make them too spicy for my daughter. Ooops.

So you stick em in a ronco dehydrator or what? Store em in mylar?

I'll see if they have them tomorrow in the Saudi Aurora Costco.

They are already dehydrated. To make them you just fill the container with hot water, let sit for 10 minutes, drain water, then fry them up.

Sweet! I got a couple buckets and gallon mylar bags/o2 sorbers. Wonder if they would keep. I'll try it out.

Anybody know if they have these in Parker? I'll look next time I'm there. What do they usually stock them next to? Beans and stuff?

They've been at Costco for years. I just assumed they all had them.

They would keep just like any dehydrated potato.

This brand? Where? These are sliced up just like the frozen ones, thin. They fry up much better than the square hashbrowns that almost every other place has to include winco foods.

Still not in bulk and that price seems to be way more than Costco. Here is the company. http://www.baf.com/products.cfm?catid=1645

Just need to find a seller that deals in bulk.[Flower]

What's the Costco price then? Haven't seen a price in this thread. Costco online doesn't even list this product, and Sams Club online says it's not available around here and can't order online!

I think they are better than the frozen ones.

Outside of ease of cooking, They beat frozen hands down. Easier to store, no refrigeration necessary means less to worry about. Longer shelf life, IMO better tasting. We're not fresh potato eaters. The occasional use in stews, holidays is about it. Jerry mentioned easier to cook than the diced ones.

Did you catch how far out the expiration date is?

Unfortunately in this case, my bulk club membership is Sam's.

I might grab some from amazon to try but am curious about expiration also.

Only if you're throwing in a case of ammo.

Food service rep is here:

They offer "Super Sacks"

The company does a LOT more than hashbrowns.

Hm is that normal? I guess I had expected a several year expiration date at least.

rbeau30

I think it is in the packaging. Coated paper really can't be all that air tight. Plus "expiration dates" really are guidelines instead of rules.

We have been eating those hashbrowns for a while now......I don't think there are any side effects :p . They used to have them in a big container also....I think it depends on the store and time off year.

I keep these in my rv and at home. Taste good and are quick and easy to make. On our last trip, I opened up two of them and had more than enough for eight people. King Soopers has a rectangle electric skillet that I use to Brown these, great buy for under $30.

Are these ones close? I'm thinking about buying them They are on sale.

$24 for 6 pounds of it sounds like a smoking deal. If the posted reviews of it are true.

We picked up the the 8 pack from costco , one is more than enough for 2 people. Instructions say 1 fill to line (approx 1c) with hot 110* + water sit for 5 min, drain then cook.
That 6lb bag is a lot of hash browns. Hopefully you'll eat before they go bad. We like the small containers for both storage and ease of use, with no left overs.
Go ahead and buy them you know you want to.

I wonder if they are organic hashbrowns. Not sure I would eat unless necessary. I would hate to grow a tail or extra ear.

5min? Weird, mine say 12mins in the water. Had some this morning, made in some sort of fancy bacon grease from the bacon my wife got at the expensive grocery store. Mmmmmmmm.... that was a good breakfast.

My bad 5 min per side, not the hot water first step [facepalm]
Using o/oil and bacon grease works for us. I know it's a good product when the spouse ask, You going to make some of those hash browns to go with the burgers?

You know, hash browns are really child sized french fries.
