Well, that's one election issue out of the way.

SCOTUS didn't really rule on the issue, they denied reviewing the cases. SCOTUS is what I expect from my government. It's a decision by not making a decision.

Doesn't affect me and the sanctity of marriage doesn't seem to be so much any more with 40-50% divorce rates for first marriages and even higher for second marriages.
Half of gay couples can enjoy losing half their shit now too!
now is the time to become or have your kids become a family law lawyer. More business headed their way.

Or more than half, depends on who is the "man" of the two.

Wow so glad we solved the burning issue of whether homosexuals can legally call themselves "married" now we can move on to minor issues like the economy, terrorism, Ebola...

I could care less if somebody wants to enter a legal binding contract with the opposite sex, same sex, or their pet frog.

I would care if a court forced a church to perform a ceremony, which I am sure will happen at some point.

kinda like a private business being forced to bake a cake. Just how deep does the rabbit hole go...nobody knows

Likewise. If the government can force religious institutes to perform ceremonies, then I'll vote for whomever will force the Vatican to name me Cardinal.

I don't care what churches are forced to do as long as they are tax exempt.

I wanna be a cardinal too, and a bishop and do the knife thing like in Alien.

This. Gay marriage doesn't effect my life in any way, and the idea of some ethereal sanctity of marriage is beyond laughable. They're people too, so if you claim to be for freedom, reap what you sow.

Correct. The thread title is wrong. The Supreme Court could take a different case later and rule in either way.

yes, definitely fuck them too. "I know let the community pay for a stadium they will never go to. So that millionaires can play a game. I dont think. "

Agree 100%.

The NFL is non profit because the 32 franchises and the revenues the NFL disburses to them is taxed. Then the salaries of the execs, players and staff are taxed. The merchandise, tickets and concessions all have sales tax on them. How much do you feel like taxing the money they make.

Public money for their stadiums is the real problem I have.

How is that different than any other for profit business?

If it's a good enough investment, someone will pay for it.

I believe that the monies paid to players is actually taxed where it was earned. Some high paid superstar comes to your local venue, and you get the tax revenue from their earnings. They're known as "Jock Taxes".

You can thank Michael Jordan and his ginormous salary for starting the movement.

If they get that much in tax revenues they can stop charging us the sales tax that goes to pay for them in the metro area.

Entertainment gets hammered with them too ....

For or against gay marriage rights, has anyone here been directly effected by this decision (or lack of a decision)?

So, all the CO gay marriage licenses given out before this ruling are voided and participants have to go through the process again? WTF for? Bet they get charged a licensing fee again too.

Pretty easy when it's directed as an insult to a staff member.

I feel like it affected my life. The United States government and many states and localities have robbed its citizens pocket books even looking at an issue that shouldnt be an issue. This has cost all taxpayers tons of money. The goverment should not be in the marriage business. period end of story.

Yeah, government should have nothing to do with marriage as defined by a "book". Get "married" by the church if it's that big of a deal to you, go to the gov to get your binding contract for the right to make life altering decisions for someone that you consider your partner.
