I am taking the Sig Sauer Defensive Carbine Course in July and am bringing my 556 fitted with a Burris Tactical 2x7 scope. I was hoping that someone who may have already taken a similar course could recommend either investing in more of a CQB optic (EOTech, Aimpoint...etc), or trying it with the Burris scope. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks again.

I've been bless in having 3 different optics issued to me in my 2 tours. CCO aimpoint M2, EoTech 552, and ACOG. Had the CCO in Afghanistan, I didn't like it much cause the Dot would get "washed" out in less then perfect weather. When we went to Iraq we were issued EoTech's, I didn't get any combat experince with them because the moment we hit country we had to turn them in and get the army issued ACOG's. But I do run with a Holosight(same thing as 552) on my personal rig. And I got to say I like it alot. Though don't expect to hit 6inch plates at 300 yards away with it.[Rant1].
I say the EoTech... unless you can get a ACOG lol.
This is seriously a personal preference. The "hot" ticket right now is the AimPoint T-1 (H-1 for non-nightvision), small form factor and super reliability.
Personally I'm a EOTech fan, but that is because it is a faster on target sight picture for me. I can see why folks like the T-1's and wouldn't mind getting one, but I'm not able to drop the $580+ to do so.
If you want to borrow an EOTech for a range trip, let me know and we'll see what we can line up.
