I am looking at lubrisizers and I am trying to figure what all I need. I looked the the RCBS that runs $180 or so, then you have to buy a $50 plus sizer plus a $40 top punch? Is that how it is with all of them? $100 for each caliber is kinda pricey compared to tumble lubing! What is the best way to go with these?

Star by Magma Engineering is, by miles, the best choice - well worth the added cost. The nose first design means you do NOT need a boatload of top punches and it means you push a finished bullet through with each stroke rather than the up-down stroke required for all the others. The only time I use my SAECO (similar to RCBS and Lyman) is when I am seating gas checks.

ETA: Depending on which lube you plan on using, you may be looking at buying or fabricating a heater to help with softening the lube - same with all lubesizers.

I own a Lyman unit, but use cheap tumble lube and a lee push through sizer die. This works for 45 ACP, 38 spl.
I know of people who use the same system for 9MM.

the Star by Magma is the best unit for perfectionists who don't have a budget.

He passed on a dillon for rcbs. Not seeing perfection, then again, he does shoot glocks ;)

A lot of people are switching over to powder coating their cast bullets. I've done it, pretty easy. But I don't have enough experience with cast bullets and lubes/coatings to be any help.

I looked at that and the cost isn't really that high, but coating and baking twice it looks way to time consuming.

Twice? I only did once. But I sprayed mine and I use an old kitchen oven. I don't do the shake and bake method, tried once and results were too lame. But sprayed with a powder gun they were perfect.

Most of the people I seen said they were doing it twice. I could see a second coat to get the base maybe. I did find zombie green powder coat haha

Are you casting for rifle, handgun, or both? I cast for all my handguns, and I use a concoction named "recluse's lube" for tumble lube all my boolits, along with Lee's push through dies with minimal-to-no-leading through my guns. You can find it HERE (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?67654-Tumble-Lubing-Made-Easy-amp-Mess-Free) and it is very easy to reproduce. The trick about eliminating/reducing leading in your barrels is to slug them to ensure that you are using the correct diameter boolit. castboolits.com is a wealth of knowledge if you take the time to read their stickies.

I have been casting handgun boolits for over 10 years, so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

If you're doing any kind of production at all, get a Star Sizer and don't look back. I'll go so far as to recommend splurging and getting their heated base as well. I've seen too many jerry-rigged and sucktacular to recommend any other way. As far as the punches and dies, they can be found cheaper (and sometimes better) than buying them from Magma. If you do order a die from Magma, order it a thousandth larger than you think you should. I have 4, and had to open up 3 of them a thousandth.

I cast only for handgun. I normally tumble lube and use the lee push threw dies now, I was just interested in one of these for a change.

I have an RCBS for seating gas checks.

I have a Star with base heat and bullet feeder for most everything else.

But then again I cheat, I make all my own punches and dies.
