For those of you buying the Kak industries buffer tube for your pistol builds do not buy an arm brace that has already been installed on a standard pistol buffer tube. They will be stretched out and just spin on the Kak tube. Save yourself the money and time and get a new brace. I learned of this by running across this on youtube:

Wow, the KAK must be significantly smaller diameter than the Phase 5 Hex 2. There's no way those could ever spin freely on them.

Boiling the brace will shrink the rubber back to original.

Thanks for the tip! Think I'm going to try that on one of mine.

Hey I believed you and appreciated the tip! I even Googled boiling the brace (wasn't sure how long to boil it for) and found the same article you posted above. Also sent a link to the guy who made that vid too!

Worse comes to worse, maybe you could use golf re-gripping tape and grip solvent to keep in place?

Yeah the idea of grip lock came to my mind. Harley grips come with a tube for installing and securing grips. Kind of like a vulcanized rubber cement.

So, did you try to boil it yet?

Nope not yet still missing some ingredients like garlic, onion, etc. No seriously the brace I have is not at where I'm at right now nor do I have the Kak tube yet either.

Well keep us posted. I'm just curious about how well it works.

Well finally got around to trying this boiling thing and it did not shrink! Yes I'm trying to go from a spiles tube to a kak just as the person did in the instructions posted above. Even tried boiling twice, 10 min the first time and boiled for 20 min the second time allowing to cool to room remp each time. Fits the same as when I started. Also compared to a brand new Sig brace which fits nice and tight on the Kak tube. Oh well, nothing a little grip lock won't fix. I'm not buying another new one!

Not sure how much play there is but I have used White Rain hair spray to affix grips on bikes for years. This is bouffant hair glue.

Ah the I'm butch but comfortable stuff. . Another option would be a few light strips / beads of silicone.

Actually the electrical tape did the trick. Fits tight but could wrestle it back off if you really needed to. Thanks for the idea Jim!
