View Full Version : What are some local Brewery's you all like
I like Grist down here in Highlands Ranch they have really good seasonal's, dark beers or IPA's if you like those. I am really enjoying all these little Micro brews popping up all over. [Beer]

Dillon Dam is a good stop on the way back from the slopes. Bull & Bush Pub is one of my favorites, in Cherry Creek... they claim their IPA as their trademark beer, but their coffee stout (maybe it was a porter?) is one of my absolute favorites and even the coffee used is local. Breckenridge Brewery in Denver makes a good Vanilla Porter. There's one in Castle Rock on the west side of I25, I don't recall the name but they weren't bad.
The liquor store off Main & Parker has a buttload of CO beer and you can build your own 6 packs.
There's a guy in Centennial or Englewood that makes a really good chocolate stout, I'll see if I can dig up his info.

Has Bull & Bush gotten better? I stopped going there years ago when the beer was mediocre, availability was off/on and the service sucked.

+1 for Odells. Always liked that place. If anyone is ever down in my state. I highly recommend Santa Fe Brewing Company and Second Street Brewing in Santa Fe. Taos Brewing, Eskes and Blue Heron are good in the Taos Area. Only place I've tried in Albuquerque is Chama River Brewing, pretty good. Second Street in Santa Fe is by far my favorite for NM beers, great burgers too.
Coors and Budweiser have some good ones[Coffee]

Comrade Brewing is a good one. As is Copper Kettle. And of course, Dry Dock. Those 3 I semi-frequent.

Avery (Boulder)
Odells (Ft. Collins)
Oscar Blues (Longmont)

Jagged Mountain
Copper Kettle

Odyssey (Arvada)
Some good ones mentioned here, but for me I usually grab Odells and Breckenridge from the store or stop off for a pint at Dry Dock since it's under 2 miles from my house and on my route home from work.
I like the beer at the Pumphouse up in Longmont. They have a Scottish ale that used to be called the "kilt lifter". They still have it but now they call it the "shockwave". I need to remember to bring my growlers next time I go and have them filled.

sure, but one of the benefits of going to Odells is that they have beers there that aren't for sale in stores. it's certainly more of a tasting room than a true bar.
My three favorites are Great Divide, Jagged Mountain and Oskar Blues

Longmont does have an amazing collection of breweries. for instance, at the oskar blues tasting room they also sell beer they don't put in stores. often just in a silver can with a sticker on it. There's a belgian quadrupel called "good game" they sell there--holy crap, it's good

Down here in The Springs, Bristol (http://www.bristolbrewing.com/) has long been my favorite. Laughing Lab is one of those beers I could drink every day and never get tired of.
But recently I discovered a little brewery that is just a block from my office called Red Leg Brewery (http://www.redlegbrewing.com/) ... their Brown Ale is awesome and their Stout is better than most (and you can drink their beer without supporting lefty folk ... dunno for sure the politics of the folk at Bristol but my impression is that they're D's).

I only discovered them a couple years ago, but I make a point to drop by there at least once per visit to CO. I've always had good service and great beer from them, and their food is pretty good too.

-Bristol Brewing (Makers of Laughing Lab)
-Colorado Mountain Brewery (Their Hefeweisen is great!)
-Rocky Mountain Brewery (Awesome little place with some picnic tables inside of an old warehouse. Great variety of brews. I don't think I've ever gotten a bad beer from these guys.)
All three are in Colorado Springs.

That would be funny, but I'm up on the Northeast corner of town, just south of Black Forest.
If you're a regular there, you might know my neighbors though...

Yep. Decent beer, some interesting brews, decent (pricey) food, but lots of yuppies. I do really like the BBQ sauce they give with their sweet potato fries.
I considered mentioning this in my original post, but since I don't really go there any more, I decided not to.
I'm a big fan of Avery (despite it's location)... Some local brew pubs I've come to know and love recently are also pretty good, if you are ever in the Stapleton/Lowry area- there's the Copper Kettle, and Comrades. Despite Comrades logo being a hoppier version of the Soviet Communist symbol, they have a pretty decent selection of tasty libations.

We really like 4 Noses in Westminster. Great beer, priced good, great food trucks for food. Also, they allow dogs inside and on the patio. They have board games and other things for kids to play with. Saturday afternoons it's a great place to hang with the dog, wife and kids. Kids seem to introduce themselves to each other and have fun.
I'll have to look that place up, sounds fun.

Big fan of Great Divide.
I've become a HUGE fan of their Colette. For some reason, I've been less about IPA and more about Saison and Farmhouse style.

Twisted Pine has really, really upped their game with this one:
51163
And if you want something seriously interesting, go for the Ghost Face Killah!
51165
It is spicy. Embiggen that pic and read the sidebar on the left. $0.02
Local to me which I almost hate to share….
I love the Mtn Toad, especially their Saison in summer.
I also love Cannonball Creek, again their Rosemary Sourdough Saison. :)
I like the farmhouse ale. I don't like pale ales much, and I like IPA's even less. However, I totally dig every other type of ale. Great Divide stuff is my favorite. I wish I could afford to buy The Big Show 12 pack all the time.

Great breweries mentioned so far.
Horse and Dragon is fantastic, Equinox as well.
for german style beer Prost in my opinion makes the BEST in the country. Grimm Brothers is good, but less traditional in the sense of "german style"
I really like Pug Ryan's beer, but only tried a few of their beers from the stores. Dillon is a bit of a trip from Fort Collins, but their Dunkel is so good!

And yeah O'Dells and I have had a great relationship this summer. I love St.Lupulin, I hope that O'dells pushes it from a seasonal into their main brewering beers.

Wonderland is very nice and they make nice beer, but their take-home pricing is bullshit. They can things for you rather than fill growlers and you pay the same per ounce price you would if you were there and being waited on.
