We've never seen a porcupin, a live one that is. After 30 + minute of dogs barking in the neighborhood, our dogs want to go out. BARK BARK FUKIN BARK. Wife says there's a vehicle in the neighbors yard. Go investigate , find out what every dog is going crazy over. Seems neighbors dog jumped fence, had porcupine trapped under truck. Along with a snout and front paws full of needles. Dog is rescued All is quiet FINALLY.
28 years in this house , foxes rabbits, couple of nesting hawks &eagles. Not to mention skunks. Except for the two our last pups dismantled violating sovergin land. No more skunks, down side were two dogs soaked like they had been swimming. For 2 weeks they stunk, even after being shaved. Yep they taught those skunks a lesson. Just like neighbors dog showed that porcupine who's boss. OUCH
.

I used to have a pet wolf, he killed a porcupine. How? Reverse CPR!

Almost hit a mountain lion running (very fast!) across highway yesterday. First live sighting for me ever. Man what a beautiful animal!

OK sleepy

Looks like he's worked some of them out. Our friend who's lived here 60 yrs said last porcupine he saw was back in the late 60's early 70's @ horsetooth . So now we go pest hunting

Too bad you don't have a suppressed lever gun in .38. That would be a perfect problem solver.

Porcupine quills are quite a task to remove. Its a good idea to at least inspect and make sure none of the quills are headed in a direction that will put them in a dangerous part of the dog's head.

Depending on how you feel about it, a vet might be a good idea.

Neighbors dog who barks & stays out all night, and jumps fences. Hoping this is a wake up call for owner and dog.

I assume the new neighbors next door? If it was the stupid chocolate lab, next to the yellow house, that barked all day I would have been rooting for the porcupine.

New ones. Interesting, she said she was going to knock on our door because she knew we had a gun to shoot it.

Based on the locals we informed that owned dogs. Not one of them has ever seen a porcupine.
Yes it can be a hassle since they hibernate. However i doubt i would shoot it unless it was in our yard, or someone else and the dogs had gotten hold of it. Not in the mood to kill something that's rarely seen, alive. Yet.

Go give that porcupine a pumpkin. They like them apparently.

I didn't realize they were that uncommon here, back home (MN) they're fricken everywhere. I had a dog growing up that loved to fight and found them around the house fairly regularly. I'd come home from school and find him sitting on the porch waiting for me with a face full of quills. I'd get the pliers, and he'd sit there without complaint and let me pull them out. If I missed any, the next day he'd come and lay at my feet and give me a WTF look.

That was adorable. You could have your neighbor get an African Leopard.

Wife and I saw one up close at the rest area near No Name on I-70. Was within 10 feet of us and the picnic table we were sitting at, just grazing around. Very cool looking critter, and we had no camera with us.. Saw this one in Eastern CO in a tree alongside US36.

First the bunnie rabbits chew $192 worth of wiring on the wife's car, then the bear snatches a window out of the house, next up voles eat all the garden. Well today I smelled something and popped my hood to find this. Sure glad it didn't catch fire.

Try clicking on the icon to the left of the film looking icon. I usually copy them from my pictures file, usually.

Last porcupine I saw in CO was around 1999 near Deckers. Was stuck in a net/goal on a soccer field. We freed him but not before he gave that net hell. Quills EVERY WHERE.

Hope that dog learned something. But I suspect he will now have a blood feud with porcupines and will fight any he sees in the future. Lots of dogs seem to operate that way after getting their ass kicked by porcupines and skunks.

Down at the scout camp outside of Elbert we were loaded with them.

I had the opportunity to shoot a porcupine with the bow years ago. (Maybell CO along the Yampa) But then thought, what the heck am I going to do with it then?

Decided to watch him wander around. Cool critter.

They own boxers, not the smartest pups in the lot.

I hear ya. Until it becomes a problem enjoy the neighborhood, everyone with pets has been informed. Those with crappy fences, fix it or vet trip.

I watched the porcupine show at the Springs zoo, they are cute as hell, but ouch... hell no..

Raccoon, armadillo, or porcupine... better than wolverines or badgers..
