View Full Version : Glock 42 - any experience?
Hey Guys,
I'm looking for something to pocket carry and I've always been a Glock guy. I've read so many different reviews that seem to be either guys who don't like Glock in the first place or total fan boys that love Glock so much that even if it didn't fire they'd still say it was great.
So I'm wondering if anyone on here has some first hand experience? I'm wondering what you put through it as far as defense ammo and range ammo, if it was reliable, how'd it shoot, etc?
Thanks guys!

If you want a pocket 380 you can shoot as well as a G19, get the 42. I'd be comfortable shooting matches with it. Most 380s (even a heavy one like a Sig P238) are a bitch to shoot.
I just got a Ghost +2 extension for my spare mag, and I can actually get my entire hand on it if I wanted.
That's good news! What are you carrying it in?

A Remora clip less tuckable. It's awesome for this

I'm carrying a 42 and really like shooting it.
Deus, do you have a pic of the remora? I appendix carry in an Uncle Mikes and know I would like a real AIWB holster so much better.

There it is. I'm not sure if it would be good if not tucking. I'd probably opt for an INCOG if I was looking for an AIWB. But tucked is amazing, it vanishes and stays in place.
That's a great looking set up Deus!

Thanks. I'm seriously amazed how concealed it is when I'm wearing a tucked shirt. It works untucked as well, but I'd rather just carry my G19 with Vanguard then.

Totally, I'm in a place where I need to be able to pocket carry, that's why I'm looking at the 42.
Where in the world did you find the +2 mag extension? I can't find any..

Deus, thanks for the pic. I'd like an AIWB that I could wear untucked or tucked. Still trying to find the right one.

Check out Dale Fricke's offerings, specifically the Joab and the Ehud. I'm partial to the Joab as I prefer the weight to be placed on the belt, but the Ehud would probably be better for total concealment. There's also the Zacchaeus, if you need deeper concealment.
All around excellent products.

Picked up my 42 a couple of weeks ago and love it.
I use a Uncle Mikes IWB for the Glock 27 (#12) and is just the right size. Pinky extension feels great in my hands.
I have used the Ramora holster as well.
Shoots nice and very little recoile for me and I'm happy with my purchase.
I heard they are working on a 9mm in the same frame size, I'd like to see that as well.

What kind of ammo have you run through it?

I'm not a Glock fan but seems to be a nice little pistol. I've handled it a few times but never fired one. My only comment would be (for me) it's a little big for a true "pocket" carry. Concealed, yes. Pocket, not for me. No way I could hide that in my pocket. It's considerably larger then what I would call a pocket gun (S&W bodyguard)

MagTech JHP and TulAmmo.
No problems with FTF, FTF and FTE.
I really like the size of the 42, but I'm hung up on the caliber. Anyone hear any rumors that Glock will announce the 9mm version at the next Shot Show?

Holy crap, when I first saw this pic, I only noticed the slight finish wear on the barrel, that thing is completely jacked!

Now I gotta go look down the barrel of my (triple verified!) unloaded g42 to check for a f*¥ed up barrel.
Today's the first time I've had a chance to handle one--I liked the feel of it, but probably not enough to buy one any time soon; too many other expenses to deal with for 2015. Besides, my next gun purchase will likely be a GP100 since I no longer have a .357 handgun after I sold my Python.

Not gonna lie, my curiosity would get the best of me and I would probably shoot it...
Had two (duel wielding is badass) but just felt squirly in the hand when firing. They are very slim and compact, very good in an ankle rig.

This is what I'm afraid of, even the shield feels squirly to me. I guess that's what I get for shooting Glocks all these years.
To be honest it's the first glock that has ever felt that way. I would like to say it's because I have big paws and its a small frame gun but even my wife made the same comment. In a 380 pocket gut gun it's hard to be the sig p238.
