View Full Version : What needs to happen to reverse the gun laws?
Obviously if Hick is still in office, Bloomberg will tell him to veto the repeal so we must have Bob win this thing.
Do we just need the senate or is there more to it? As far as I remember Hudak stepped down to save the Dem's one seat advantage so all we need is one seat right? Isn't Laura Woods running against Hudak's clone? How is that race looking?
Good question. At this point, if the Rs win and we take back a lot more seats, I think it can happen. I know that Nicholson is up for reelection, and God willing she loses, hard!
Repealing a law is way more difficult than passing it in the first place.
I wouldn't hold your breath no matter how the elections play out.
By my calculation if Laura Woods wins, and Beauprez wins then we should have non-neutered mags flying out of gun shops by July 1, 2015. Would be nice to get rid of that pesky BGC law too.
I suspect there is more to it though...

This ^^^ I'm not a pessimist, I'm an optimist with experience.

well even it Bob does not win
If Hickenblooper veto's a repeal of those three BS, that's the point where the 80k signatures to get it on the ballet should magically appear.
yes it will be 2016 likely before we the people get a say, but that will also slam the dumocrates in the face and say yes the people still value their rights.. F off
I don't have much faith in any of the laws being repealed regardless of who is elected.. Wasn't the gun show loophole passed with a Republican majority?
One could always dream though..

Im with Ray on this, no matter who wins I dont think we will see either laws repealed. It is very hard to get laws taken back once they have been put in place. With that said I hope they get repealed but im not holding my breath.
I don't see why it is more difficult to repeal a law if you have the majority. Just roll your eyes when Mark Kelly and that that idiot cop from Golden show up and do what you want. Go through Committee, pass the Senate, hit the gov's desk, Boom, done!
They tried last year and already did all the paperwork and the dems just shot it down. And with that I see Udall just fell. Woohoooo!

Hick has presidential aspirations, and is politically savvy enough to see which way the wind is blowing. It would hurt him somewhat in the primaries, esp in the east coast where "common sense gun control" is a thing, but nationally it would make him a stronger candidate to have some "I used to be pro gun control but now I changed my mind / respected the will of the people / whatever" line to use and have backed up with some actual policy changes.
I think if the legislature can pass a repeal hick will sign it.

..which is why, if the Democrats show the same kind of party discipline in the coming session that the Republicans had in 2013, nothing will pass.
Just like Harry Reid does in the Senate, for another two months: he kills bills so that Obama can continue to vote 'Present.'
So, I guess the task at hand is to find Democrats who might vote pro-gun or represent pro-gun districts and flood them in letters. Is the guy from the eastern plains who voted right in the House (Ed Vigil?) still in, or was he term-limited out?
And pray that nothing ends up in the Veterans Affairs committee, or that the "leadership" has decided that they're ashamed of the whole concept of a kill committee.

All irrelevant- since the State house flipped to D, nothing will be written to go that direction...
but with the state Senate flipped to R, there will not be any approving of anything like we got in 2013... so we get gridlock for the next 2 years at the state level.
But at least Hickey didn't feel forced to pardon Nathan Dunlap... [Rant2]
The Dems only hold a 3 seat majority in the House.
Given that three of their compatriots in the senate were recalled, it seems to me like a repeal of these laws would be a pretty reasonable sell to a couple of the more non-idiotic ones from rural areas, though I would expect Ferrandino would throw an utterly epic hissy fit to keep them in line.
