So I voted straight ticket R because eff gun control, but maybe if you were in this guy's district vote L instead?

Democrats like Polis want to bankrupt Christians who refuse to worship and endorse his sodomy. Next he'll join ISIS in beheading Christians, but not just in Syria, right here in America.
And so on.

I'd rather have him in office than Jared Polis...[gohome]

He doesn't sound any worse than the average progressive. Just different misguided talking points.

But you have to admit he's likely MUCH less harmful to your rights than Jared Polis.
I see it as how far some people are willing to RUN away from the far left- they'd rather to too far right...
I also think that source is sensationalistic drama-filled propaganda... I bet the Rep. Elect would seem much less offensive in person then that article makes him out to be.
I couldn't even get thru the first paragraph before finding an error- the Navy doesn't have "Pastors"... they have Chaplains, there is a difference.

All the quotes appear to be correct - he's certainly never said they are fabrications and his super lame defensiveness about them is offputting.
I have enough gay friends that when someone spouts this kind of nonsense I react about the same as when someone claims that owning an assault rifle means you must want to kill women and eat babies.

I wonder if you'd be so sanguine about it if he was talking about guns that way. Or people who are anti-obamacare.
Would he just be "misguided" then?

when they stop coming after my rights, I'll stop supporting individuals that don't approve of their rights... just because those individuals will leave my rights alone.
Fair enough?
And the quotes appear to be out of context, at least some of them... I'm not saying you or any LGBT would agree with him, I'm just saying that article is making it seem even worse than it really is...

Mine ARs used to tell me to do all sorts of evil things... I had to drown them in a lake to make it stop. The other voices thanked me.

If he is open about all that and still received 70% of the vote what's the problem?

Maybe not. But he isn't. If gays can be single issue voters what's wrong with someone else being a single issue voter? Either way, he's free to say what he feels is right. He said it and the people in his district elected him. Furthermore, the outspoken LGBT community says and does plenty of things I find offensive...like forcing a business owner to violate his personal moral code to please them. Sorry, but I don't think gays own the high ground here.
This guy sounds freaking insane. I also completely expected the kinds of comments I'm seeing in this thread. I'm a believer in freedom for Americans.

Yeah...the rest of us don't believe in any kinds of freedoms. Like being able to make the sorts of comments we're free to make.

That's weird. You're free to comment as you like!

Well there's a conflation here, right? You can say anything you want. But that doesn't necessarily shield you from the social censure of others, right? Its the same mistake gay activists (gactivists?) are making with the whole forcing cake baking and marriage ceremonies and so forth.
My personal opinion is if you hate me because of whatever retarded reason you're the last person I want officiating my wedding with my 40 concubines, or baking our sex orgy cake, but I'm a weirdo like that.

This is out of hand. You guys obviously all hate freedom. [Poke]
He's a complete lunatic who happened to win in a district where he ran almost completely unopposed.
I expect him to pull stupid shenanigans in the upcoming term.

Not really, some members take any slight towards non anglo's as racist. You cannot sway or convince them other wise. It's unfortunate their mind set doesn't allow other wise. Tolerant & Diverse [hahhah-no]
On the flip side are assholes like the guy in the link. While freedom of speech applies, has no business holding any office. Interesting he ran unopposed.
Has anyone called Klingenschmitt to tell him that he has exactly one term in which to do one very simple job: repeal gun control.
He can be as much of a whack job as he likes in his own home (and frankly, I'd bet dollars to donuts he's a hardcore closet case), but he needs to be busting his butt through this entire term to hold the Dems feet to the fire and do everything he can to repeal the gun control laws that were passed.
So the good news is this guys in the House, which is Dem controlled so it's unlikely he'll be able to pass anything too crazy. This is always the risk you take, when you have to vote to defend something more important (gun control) you may sacrifice something you value just a little less, but that you still hate to sacrifice. However, I don't fundamentally believe that a Repub majority will push us into a gay bashing, personhood loving crazy society, because at the end of the day, the most die hard Repub has to wonder what he'd do if his own daughter got pregnant in some horrible, non-consensual way, or how he'd treat his own gay son. I do know from experience though, that Dems have very little issue destroying the basic human rights of themselves and everyone else in the state, so I have to oppose that.
Well shit, now the gingers AND the gays want my soul. Feeling a little depressed with that news.Oh, nobody thanked this guy for his service being in the Navy.

THe problem is that any time the Dems need to whip up the base, all they'll need to do is point a video camera in the general direction of this weirdo, and *poof* instant left-wing voter outrage.
The problem with guys like Klingerwhatever is that they have a habit of shooting their mouth off without first giving a modicum of thought to how it can blow back on them.
However, I don't fundamentally believe that a Repub majority will push us into a gay bashing, personhood loving crazy society,
I don't, either, simply because contraception, abortion, and gay rights are all set in stone at this point. The problem is the group of Republicans who don't seem to realize that continued agitation about these issues is costing their party votes and popular support with the majority of the electorate.
