We have put two new rimfire matches on the calendar for the Colorado Rifle club in 2015.

One is Rimfire Challenge (http://www.nssf.org/rimfire/), which, while not new, has gone through some changes. Ammo is now available to matches through the efforts of NSSF. RFC is the optimum introductory sport for action shooting sports. Using both a rimfire pistol and rifle, the safety, range commands and such are consistent with what is used within the other sports. It is lower stress with no movement, low cost and very family friendly. With just a few dates, we will try it out and hope to get a regular monthly match up and going at CRC. We will have new shooter clinics at these matches as well.

The second match is the logical 2nd step and had been called Rimfire Extreme. While not yet formalized, it consists of 20-40 targets per stage, shot with rifle or pistol (or both) and introduces movement. The stages are all shot against a PAR time of about 1 to 2 seconds per target. Highest target count wins. Ties are broken by a timed stage with 6-8 targets. Think falling steel, USPSA style stages, and rimfire...why they call it Extreme.

Anyway, I wanted to let folks know about these two new opportunities at CRC as well as seek some CRC members who would be interested in helping with, and or running these matches. If this is of interest to you, please let me know.

All of the matches are CRC are run by members who have a passion for their particular sport, and I know that there are some action rimfire fans just waiting to have their day in the limelight.

I like the "Rimfire Extreme" concept. Any scheduling information yet? I would be willing to help set up if the scheduling doesn't conflict with other Front Range matches that I shoot.

Rimfire Challenge: March 21, May 30, July 3

Rimfire Extreme: Dates not yet decided. I plan to set up a few stages on the March 21 RFC date and see how people like it and go from there.

Just for planning purposes, if I order in ammo from the NSSF program, how many people would buy it? We would be looking at about 150 required rounds per match.

It is CCI for .09/round, Aguila for .085/round and Winchester white box for .07/round.

+1, with two minions starting to shoot rim fire matches next spring, we need more sources.

CCI would be the choice for me.

FWIW newly opened Bristlecone Shooting Center in Lakewood has quite a bit of CCI SV in stock for 8 cpr. Limit one brick per day. It's on may way home so have been stopping by every day.
