I know most all of us know this, but if there are any hold outs...

This is one of my Young MFG NM carriers. As a test of my own, I have recently run 4K of PRVI Partizan XM193 and M855 through this without any cleaning. The only maintenance performed was 4 drops of breakfree after each 1k rounds. I then left it alone after the 4th set of ammo to take these pictures. I was going to continue my test till the rifle stopped functioning reliably, but courtesy of Stig (big +1 for him), I am going to be putting a Geissele rail on it, so I'm stopping at 4k.

I had 3 failures in the 4K, and those were hard primers that my original Timney drop in failed to fire.

The drops of breakfree were applied in the same spots all three times:

1. On top of of the bolt, right in front of the carrier face, with the bolt extended.
2. In the cam pin pocket.
3. On the top left BC rail.
4. On the top right BC rail.

This thing is filthy... But it was still running great.

Anyway, on to the pictures...

The hard chrome on this thing is awesome. A quick wipe with (of all stupid things) a BW3 handi-wipe, and the carbon just falls off.

Anyway, good parts aren't cheap, but they are definitely worth it.

I agree. Buy quality stuff if you want it to work. Personally, I am running BCM bolt carrier groups in all of mine. The story about "filthy 14" really sold me on the quality of their stuff and I have never had a problem with anything they put their logo on.

I only made it through 2k of mostly Tula in my cheap franken AR before I got bored and cleaned it.
There was almost 1/4" of carbon buildup behind the brake. I had to chip it off with a razor.

Wish My Del-ton worked that well. I have to oil that thing religiously. Good Pic's OP.

Thanks, that's just my phone. I haven't bothered to get the DSLR out in a while.

A good change for your delton would be either the Young MFG carrier group, or I have seen really good reviews of the Rainier arms NB BCG. You'd be surprised at the change in reliability with a change like that.

I call the AR that this came out of "the first AR I ever owned", but there isn't a single piece of the original Bushy A2 20" left...

Damn BRD.
