What do you guys that have additional insurance on your firearms pay per month for the extra coverage? I think State Farms covers $2500 which is not enough.

Mine is like $110 per $10K of coverage annual. And yes $2500 is for ALL 'sporting goods" . Also do not forget if you are a member to fill out the form so you can get your $2500 free INS from the NRA. it is not automatic.[Flower]

$110 per 10k is not bad at all. I'll have to talk to my agent to see what he can do for me.

You should probably get additional coverage on your boat if you hang around here enough.

USAA offers a rider to your homeowners insurance specifically for firearms as well.

Along these lines, how does one go about getting the firearms appraised? I asked my insurance if I could get extra coverage. it was pretty damn expensive and they require an official appraisal but they wouldn't suggest any appraisal service.

You might want to look elsewhere. It seems (by the other threads we have had on this) that some just want a total value and some just a make/mdl and what you value it at.

At one time, State Farm required firearm make, model, caliber, appraised value and SERIAL NUMBERS. I dropped that expensive policy and bought a safe which will be somewhat better than no protection at all.. [blaster]

Take pictures of each firearm with the serial # visible. put one copy on cd with your other paperwork, one on a flash drive.

I keep a updated record on in a Power Point file of my firearms with photos and serial numbers along with Blue Book values noted on the photo. I have a copy on my laptop and a CD copy in my GTFO bag with other important papers. Each time a change is made in my collection I make the changes as soon as I get home. My renter policy and my NRA coverage is enough for now as far as values go on my collection.

I can't find a cost break down because mine is just added to the entire annual premium for the homeowner policy. I had him add 30K in firearm coverage and I believe it is somewhere near $240 a year additionally. I like it that way because you just add about twenty bucks to your house payment each month. Unlike the old insurance company this company doesn't require a list and serial numbers, as long as I can provide them in case of a claim.

Your Declarations (DEC) page should have a break down.

With Historic Firearms Insurance Co you can get a 35k policy for $125. They will even cover them when you are travelling.

That's not bad for about $10/mo. Anyone know anyone on all these forums that has had to file a claim with them though? That's the real deciding factor to 'value' in insurance coverage.
