View Full Version : Hello all from Louisville...where to shoot?

Good to see there's some gun folk around here (I'm in Louisville). I just moved here also and have found the gun shops a little light in the area. I assumed there was probably a lesser demand in the Boulder area.

Since I'm new, I've been looking for places to shoot in the mountains. I'm not a fan of indoor shooting but prefer the dirt road for a few miles to an uninhabited area sort of thing. Is there anything around here like that? There's GOT to be!

Hey, welcome!

I'll let the others answer on where to shoot, I don't have a good place to go either.

Thanks, good to be here. No place to shoot either? I figured there'd be plenty of areas up in the mountains. hmmm

Well there are, I just havn't taken the time to find/use them. I don't shoot very much. I'm sure others on this site have lots of nice places.

Welcome to the forum.

There is a whole forum here dedicated to "Places To Shoot"

Yes I did notice that but nobody is willing to give up any information on "where". After doing a lot of research, I'm finding that there's been a lot of trouble with people trashing the public areas. With that knowledge I can understand people being tight-lipped. However I'm not looking for a place that's 10 minutes away and just off paved roads. I'm perfectly happy driving some 4x4 trail to get there...and actually would prefer it 'cause it cuts down on the non-dedicated. I find, the harder the site is to find the better chances of finding nobody there...or better yet maybe a few genuine enthusiasts.

So here's to hoping I can find some of you guys... [Beer]

Hi and welcome, I go above Idaho Springs into the forest area. If all else fails let me know and I will give you directions up there.

Hey Ghostrider thanks for the info. I was hoping to find something above the Boulder area but if I can't then I'll definitely check out Idaho Springs. I've never been there or anywhere around there actually but exploring is always fun. Actually I've only been in Colorado for three weeks now so just about all of it is new to me. I'm loving it though and can't wait to find a couple of great plinking spots.

Thanks again, [Beer]

Sounds like a good spot. You said, "our site", does that mean it's a club sort of thing?

Depending on weather, most of the day.. I haven't been to a north one in awhile, so I'm not sure what they've been doing up there..
