Looking specifically for a contractor that will give an estimate to remove popcorn ceiling in approx 1500 sq feet of our house. We will also need it retextured and painted white. The house was built in 1980 do no asbestos abatement should be necessary. Not looking to do it myself as I am in the HVAC business and we are VERY busy right now. Thanks in advance.
When you are done with the drywall contractor, send him over here.
Those guys are busy.

Wouldn't be too sure that is does not have asbestos.
It was banned in 78, but existing supplies were allowed to be used up.
It was still applied in many homes through the mid 80's.
There is asbestos in (some: China) drywall mud and tape, so even much more recently built homes can test positive for asbestos. Hope you're able to avoid all that nonsense.

Found this out the hard way myself; Drywall, Mud/Texture (includes Popcorn), Linoleum, Siding, & Insulation. to name a few.
When my guy is done I'll ask him if he works down there if he does a good job for me.

Thank you. I am not looking to have anything removed, but patching after the sparkies are done poking holes. I am fine getting drywall up and smooth taped and mudded...I just haven't gotten the hang of matching the texture, and doubt that I will invest the time necessary to develop that particular skill.
On a related note, I am just running into contractors who are so busy they are just outright telling me they aren't interested in the work. I have to let the contractors do more of the work just to make the job worth their time. These guys are just plain busy.
