Someone posted this on a machining forum and I couldn't resist passing it on. I'm sure some of you other guys have seen this (it's on THR, after all), but this thing is pretty dang cool!

I just spent an hour reading through that thread. That's awesome! And he's in Colorado, too!

Favorite comment so far:

If he makes a half sized eotech I'm not sure what I'll do. [LOL]

2nd and 3rd place:

Well, it is safe to say at least one member is pulling their weight around here.

Yeah he's making the rest of us look like under achievers.

Wow! I'm really curious to see what he comes up with for recoil and gas system.

No gas system, it's straight blowback-operated.

That's wild! I'm on THR every day, it's one of my regular forums I visit, but I totally missed this thread. And I'm in Parker, not far from him at all.

The boy has some pretty good skills. Having worked as a conventional machinist for many years in a prototype and small run military subcontract machine shop, I can appreciate the effort that the guy is putting into his project. I hope it works as he wants it to.

I'm lucky to even recognize a lathe or mill two out of three times. I wish I had not only that kind of talent/skillset, but the equipment to put it to use. Actually, I've had the equipment...FAIL.

Still, with blowback the recoil system has to be tuned and I want to see the tiny buffer, lol.

Perhaps something along the lines of a 10/22 recoil set up. I like he just decided to half everything and go for it.

Reminded me of this 3/4 scale build in .17HMR, But at a whole new level.

I hope he has a lot of ammo for it, 17HM2 is getting very hard to find.

He's getting even crazier with it! 1/4 size lowers that he's considering turning into bottle opener keychains!

Yeah it's so awesome when you consider he basically just figured all this shit out...he has no formal machining education.
