I've been thinking about setting up to do it. Build an oven, etc pick up a media blaster, which I've been wanting anyway, couple other items and go to town.

Jerry are you baking it or just using the air dry version?

I have a media blaster sitting here;) Look on CL for someone dumping an electric oven cheap, there's a fair amount of them.

I used some spray duracoat to color a couple receivers yesterday. It looks like total shit but hey, it's a beater gun anyway. Guess I should hand it to you next time...

So if you wanted the front sight base a different color than the barrel do you need to remove it and ceracoat the barrel then reinstall the FSB or ill the layer of ceracoat not allow for you to get the FSB back on without scratching the newly coated barrel up?

On a FSB I would tape and do a second color after a tack bake. CeraKote is thin but not interference thin.

Jerry, did you buy those 80% lowers with the two holes in the trigger area? Does that make the final machining any easier? Who has them pre drilled?

Buy it here. http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/ You just have to be anal about prep. A basic guide comes with an order. I thought it was funny because years ago (see oven pic above) I did a lot of work with the 2000 degree duplicolor and found out it is all in the prep. I get my guide and I was prepping parts for the oven just like in the guide. A lot of Automotive painting and prep practices carry over.

A couple of my latest now that I am back on a Cerakote kick. A FAL in 45ACP for my SIL. This was a complete build from scratch that wanted a lot of love. Mix-master of parts with an old Rhinelander mag adapter and barrel with metric and inch parts. Smoked bronze and a custom mixed color. Second is my 300BO gun that took a twist along the way. In person the colors are very subdued as the flash brings them out. At 10' you just notice something is different. 96090 96091 9609296093
