View Full Version : Colorado buck breaks the 300 inch mark
This is a buck killed in western Colorado. It is confirmed that this buck scores 311 4/8 gross. I have spoke with guys from the DOW and guys from the Mule Deer Foundation, and this is a legit kill. I will not disclose the area. I don't know any more to the story but would like to hear more about this amazing buck.
Holy crap that is a big deer!
If I saw that in the field, I'm not sure I would believe my eyes. Amazing to me he hacked the rack off the skull, I'd have left it intact to the skull.

From my understanding he is going to shoulder mount it, so there is no need for the rest of the skull. You only need enough of the base plate so it can be fit to whatever mold you chose to use.
Here is another pic of this buck, when he got it back to the truck. And just in case there was any doubt about it being from Colorado, you can see the harvest ticket already attached, which is clearly a Colorado license.

Im not sure how to get a link for this one. The pic was first sent to my phone by a buddy. It is also posted on Muley Sheds Facebook page. You are probably smarter at that than myself. It's under their photos.
I have heard rumors that Cabelas has already offered to pay for the taxidermy work and pay him if he would allow them to take it on tour, and I have also heard that he has been offered over $100,000 as well as some insane numbers to buy the rack from him. He has declined all offers.

I don't do Facebook, so we're even. It's no big deal, I'm sure my hunting friends will hear on their own I'm sure. Heh

Damn. I could almost fit all of my hats on that rack.
I can't help but think of the "thirdy point buck" song when I look at that thing. Good lord it's huge.
For $100,000 you could have the rack.

Friend's dad got this back in 08 in Utah. I think with Governor's tag and guides it cost him about 350K.

your friends dad dad also killed this buck on Antelope Island in Utah. That's pretty cool that you know Denny Austad.

I know Craig his son and have met Denny only a few times. We call him the Great White Hunter.

Very nice. DOW has had concerns with mule deer on western slope. Hope this means things are looking better.

350k to shoot an elk?
I only know now one person I'd pay that to shoot.
