View Full Version : Safe and Secure Gun Storage?
Going out of town for a month or two to the cancer treatment center in OK. We can put all our small stuff in the safe deposit boxes and larger stuff in regular storage. But guns and/or ammo aren't allowed at either, not that I'd really want to store them there anyhows. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tristan

I would be glad to store them in my basement. Seriously. Honestly.

Don't know if there is a place out in CO like this but when I was in the Army at Ft. Stewart. An indoor shooting range had lockers that you could rent and store your firearms. I think this was a way around keeping them in the Arms room for single barracks bound guys. Other than that....perhaps at a friends house? Or buy my safe! Sorry for the plug.
Yes, yes-I like your safe. But all they would have to do is go out to the garage and get the plasma cutter....... :)
Thank you all for the offers of storage. Got a lot of pms, replied to all. Problem is liability. Fire, flood, thieves, batfe....nobody here needs to answer questions about someones elses' guns. I thought of copies of all my paperwork, since I have such for each item. But if it all burned, well......
There's got to be a commercial place, isn't there? I asked a local shop and they said "no".
Any other ideas?
Thank you,
Tristan

That would be a motivated thief with a plasma cutter! Nothing is safe if you got that kind of criminal coming after your crap. Good luck to you. And fight on!
Well, he'd have to be smart, too, and I think that thief and smart is an oxymoron.........but since we will be gone a while, everything is at risk. We will have a guy living in the basement apartment, for free as long as we are gone, but he has a job and who knows. My pops taught us "better safe than sorry", ya know?
Thank you, though. I do fight the good fight, so to speak. The cancer is incurable, but it hasn't metastasized anymore in a couple of months, so I kinda want to find out why I'm still around. May only take a couple of weeks, may take a year. Who knows. It's in Gods' hands, so I leave it there. It sure would be nice to see Farrah all young again in a little white angels' outfit, though, lol!
(jk, God!)
p.s.-GunTroll-When we went by uhaul yesterday I saw that one of their trucks has a lift on it. Can't you use that to load your safe? And then some of those plastic dealies to move furniture with underneath it?

I just bought a gun safe at Harbor Frieght for pretty cheap. It's heavy and can be bolted to the wall and floor. Mine only holds 10-12 rifles and a second inside safe for valuables. They are always having sales and I've found 15% off coupons in all kinds of magazines (field & stream, American Hunter). If you need I can mail you a coupon.
How many guns are you talking about here?
When we were kids, we'd pack a big bag for lunch when we went to Elitches, but instead of paying for a locker, we'd just turn it into lost and found. Then at the end of the day, we'd just go claim it again.
If it's not that many guns, maybe you could take them to a gun smith to have them "cleaned" or something?
