I've looked there and everywhere else. I know that ball powders uses magnum primmer. I just want to comfirm. I only have 100 Large Rifle magnum's but alot of standard LR. [Rant1]

If anyone cares, hodgens says standard primers are A OK. If shooting is to be done at 20 degrees or lower(hunting), then go with a magnum primmer. [Bang]

Speer manuals list when magnum primers are recommended and DOES NOT list as recommended in a 308 with 4895. That doesn't mean you can't use them, but you might need to back the load down a little if you use them.

A 308 Winchester is not a magnum caliber. You just need standard Large Rifle Primers. Winchester primers are my favorite.

41 grains of 4895 with a 168 grain match bullet is an excellent load.

4895 was the original powder developed for militry 30-06 and 308 (7.62 NATO) Winchester.

Sometimes using a magnum primer will help accuracy and give a lower ES and SD. Sometimes it doesent do a thing to accuracy.

You will have to try it and find out.
