View Full Version : Do we have anybody local or on the board who works at a RC/hobby shop or knows someone?
Looking at some of the DJI quadcopters, would be nice to get a few questions answered/opinions, etc. Didn't see anything in search or in the IP section for member-owned businesses.
Also wondering about an opportunity to talk buy/sell/trade options.
If not, can anyone recommend a local store? I could always buy online, but would prefer to deal with someone local if I could...
You might try Colpar hobbies. AFAIK, they still have a store in Aurora.
Hobbytownusa is a place I went to all the time as a kid for gas rc planes.
Hopefully Rccrawler will stop in I know he has a quad rotor but I'm not sure which brand it is. He would be best for an informed opinion.

I have a DJI Phantom Vision 2 and love it, in fact I just purchased a second one for work.
The first one I ordered through a connection I have with my RCCrawler.com website, but the second one I went down to Castle Rock and picked it up from Multicopter Warehouse they were VERY Helpful and knowledgable. The second one I bought is the latest version with the better props, motors, and different remote, due to all the crazy wind last week I didn't get a chance to put it up in the air. I got the quad, a hard case, 4 total batteries, an extra set of props, and a car charger and the cost was $1965 before tax.
Things to remember to make it last, this is an expensive piece of photography/videography equipment, treat it as such. If you want something to just zoom around and beat on there are much cheaper options. Make sure you do the proper calibrations, including calibrating the IMU before the first flight, and calibrating the compass before each flight. I have well over 100 flights on my original one and I am still using 100% of the original parts including props.
A few guys here have expressed interest in checking mine out at some point, I'm game to meet somewhere and give a rundown whenever you guys want. I live at 144th and York.
Nice, yeah I was looking at the v3.0 vision+ as well.
Had a chance to spend a few hours with the original phantom, and that convinced me I wanted one with the newer battery at minimum.
Which case did you pick up? Does it fit with the wifi extender and cell phone mount still attached? Also, do you have to remove your props before boxing it?

As I sit here and process last weeks receipts I was wrong on the price I quoted, it was $1915.00.
I have the GoProfessional case, it fits everything fine, you do have to remove the props though. Not a big deal at all it takes 2 seconds, and honestly I think even if I didn't have to I would just to be safe nothing would get bent. Multicopter Warehouse also has the HPRC case in stock, and you can leave the props on with that one, however the case is WAY bigger than the GoProfessional case, which I didn't want to deal with.
