View Full Version : Remington trigger recalls?

So, there's a new flurry of news about Remington recently agreeing to replace the triggers in 7.85 million rifles, all Model 700's ever made and several other models.....supposedly including reimbursing people who've already replaced their triggers.

Anybody here know any more details? Such as how this will be handled? I have no interest in shipping my 700 any-damn-where, but if I can buy a Timney for it and get reimbursed I'm all for it!

I was wondering how they will handle this when I read about it yesterday. Do they have to go back to Remington or can you have a local smith do the work and have Remington cut them a check or reimburse you? Is Bert up to the task of redoing the triggers on every Rem 700 in the area? [Coffee]

However, I doubt they would reimburse you for a competitor's trigger set.

That's a different recall, just for the X Mark Pro triggers. The new one I'm talking about includes the earlier Walker triggers and rifles dating back to ~1947. A much larger mess.

I saw somewhere someone did the math and figured if everyone got their rifles fixed they would be done around 2027.

I've seen speculation that Remington's "replacement triggers" could be much heavier, like 8lbs+, although safer. I want a safer trigger, but not at the sacrifice of performance.

+1. I'm all for changing the trigger if it is as good as my current one. Otherwise, as long as you follow the firearm safety rules you'll be fine. It would sure be nice if they paid for me to get an aftermarket one. [Coffee]
